The dreadful state of UK ticket sales

I recently wrote a brief exploration of how drastically Morrissey's ticket sale figures have plummeted in the UK, with special attention given to the startlingly low sales for the upcoming Leeds gig.

With two weeks to go until the show, huge quantities of seats remain unsold in some of the best blocks in the venue while standing floor tickets also remain.

What pish! Opinions are important so is respect, compassion, understanding etc. You display none of these qualities. We can all have differing opinions but that doesn't necessarily mean the default language should be one of intolerance and blame.

And I refute that you are nobody. You are somebody who takes pleasure in making hateful comments without any provocation.
Hate Speech is nowadays any opinion a liberal disagrees with.

As evidently exampled above.

Moz is great in a run down kip like Glasgow Barrowlands (at least it was a kip when I saw Moz there in 2002. Excellent concert by the way). Hard to believe that was 18 years ago. Feels like 5 years. Anyway, my best Moz concerts have been the smaller tattier venues. I find the arenas a bit soul-less. Still great to see Moz anywhere but I find the arena crowds a bit boring, self absorbed, and slightly distracted by phones. Puzzles me why they pay good money for concerts only to stand like retired replicants from Blade Runner. Those very same mandroids accuse anyone over 40 of being too old for concerts. Their ignorance and lack of self awareness (despite self obsession) is amusing.
I was at that one Acton. You might’ve had a scrap with me for a piece of that black shirt.

Steve P Morrissey - all you need to do is apologise, say you've made a massive mistake, and that you do not endorse far-right politics.
Do you really think this would make any difference to those who are boycotting shows?

I really can't see all these 'cancel culture' folks suddenly flocking back to him, even if he does say "whoops - sorry, I've changed my mind - actually I love immigration and the Labour Party'. They'll just say he's lying to save his career.

For a troll comment, this is kind of spot on.

I don't think the low ticket sales have anything to do with his weird comments on sexual predators, or his politic beliefs. It's the simple fact that he tours constantly and seeing Morrissey live is about as common as going to the cinema.

Added to that, most people who have seen him in recent years know what to expect. A dull, lackluster set (with occasional flashes of greatness), clocking in at under 90 minutes, filled with songs we're all sick to death of (Paris, Munich Air, IYDLM,DLAM, HSIN, an onslought of covers, and anything off his past two albums).

If Morrissey went out of his way to make this tour special, by rewarding the fans who have stuck by him with a fresh, crowd-pleasing set, this would sell out in seconds. He would get great press and word of mouth and probably win back a lot of jaded fans. But we all know him too well, and realize that won't happen. Fool us once, shame on him, fool us 137+ times??

Facts are sometimes hard to accept, but the band (outside of Boz of course) sucks. His goon squad are incapable of writing good, solid Morrissey songs, and seem to have abandoned guitar rock all together. Morrissey desperately needs Alain Whyte's songwriting, his output has suffered greatly since his departure. Ideally, bring Alain back, sack Jesse, and Gustavo, and bring in Stephen Street to produce a new album (while also contributing a couple of songs). That's as likely as a Smiths reunion sadly.

And his quality control in all areas does indeed sucks. His no-talent, oxygen-thief of a nephew does his best to tarnish his uncle's image with his laughable album/single covers, and rank amateur blog posts that reak of a mid-90s internet presence.

Morrissey is an incredibly selfish performer, who values his new material to an absurd degree. It is to his detriment sadly, as he is doing himself no favors. If this is the way Morrissey goes out... with a whimper, it'll be sad indeed. He still has it in him to do a course correction, but all indicators point to that not happen.

I say this with no joy, or satisfaction, only disappointment in an artist I love.
You've very likely hit the nail on the head. He is selfish in all aspects, especially the concerts. For me 'the occasional flashes of greatness' in the LIHS tour were Jack The Ripper and Munich Air Disaster. Moz could easily put together a killer setlist if he wanted to. And change it up a bit. Peter Hook had his band learn every single song from the Joy Division and New Order back catalogue and they can play them flawlessly, and can tour whatever songs they like while making sure to fill the setlist with crowd pleasers. Same for Suede, Pixies, The Cure. Moz won't though.

I assume you are including yourself in the bigoted keyboard warrior list seeing that you made pipstrella look like chaim weizmann in the anti semitism thread. im beginning to see you are not the brightest :lightbulb: as you seem to swallow whole every nonsensical Fake Chameleon/Untruth post as if it were scripture.

I don’t know. I’m going to see Morrissey.
It’s hard work being a fan isn’t it..... just imagine the 30 minutes of morrissey music before he starts to parade the stage.... that build up is adrenaline building , it just builds, then builds, then you here HELLO , it’s at that point you forget all this shit for one night only....... my second fave thing is the afternoon build up in the pubs, when all the fans you see with the t shirts on, I just introduced myself and start talking... met some wonderful people along the years ....had a laugh in Sunderland a while back my wife and I got cracking to a couple after the gig in a pub , she was very classy looking and after a couple of drinks she was gazing into my eyes , fiddling with her hair and hanging on to every word I was saying, at this point I knew something wasn’t right.... turned out they were swingers .... taxi to Carlisle

That's all very well rehearsed but dull and uninteresting. Well done you for pressing that short cut key so quickly and accessing your bumper page of stock phrases.

I wish! I was near the front but didn't go for the shirt. I was spat on in the queue (by Celtic supporters, at least they looked like they were) but I guess that's not the worst aggression I've seen over the years. That concert WAS great though, wasn't it? I think it was because Moz was hungry for success. He debuted First Of The Gang, Irish Blood, and Crashing Bores. When I heard them I was thinking "how the hell does he not have a record deal". Those songs probably got him the deal.
Remember at the start some twat with uncanny aim threw a pint all over Moz? Landed on his head and soaked him from head to foot. I was convinced that was the end of the concert. Moz stopped the band and told the audience to punch whoever threw it. Then he carried on and delivered a stand out performance.

Sorry for the essay.

You're a loud, proud homophobe on a fan website for a sexually-active gay man. It's not about liberal or conservative. As the anonymous poster remarked, it's about respect and compassion. You're simply hateful, paranoid and afraid. People like you always love to trot their lousy opinions out as if it's the most daring thing in the world, then hide behind the plausible deniability of coy semantics.

Talk about 2 faced. You accuse me of being a closet gay but finger point at the vile thing because she says shit stabber. You're both almost as bad as each other with the vile thing leading, obviously.

Interestingly a comment I posted re: felching cum whore never appeared but the homophobic craps is rarely censored.
Your just after frisk mate. Wanting to carry your unimportant self on . Another flee looking for a well stained beer mat.... let me introduce you drunken boy86 from Whitehaven. Future lovers or what.... f***ing gobshite

The cure at Glastonbury, we’re laden with album tracks.... loved em for years but a slight let down last summer , weren’t they.... will never forget the killers and an unexpected Johnny and PSBOYS .... that Saturday eclipsed the Sunday nigh headline slot, very unfortunately

So what if Moz is gay or sexually active? I couldn't care less. Just like I don't care about the orientation of posters on this site. Why can't it just be about the music?

Because then people wouldn’t be able to use terms like “the plausible deniability of coy semantics”.
