Oh my god. it's Robby!

spontaneously luminescent
rodin-thinker.jpg

since getting sober for a while and my trip to N.Z.
the time has come to examine the direction of my life
what to do next?

I have now narrowed the choices down to:

1.
ba_ucsf.jpg

go back to uni either here for a Masters in Education or elsewhere for one in History or Screenwriting

2.
wBlakeSongLos.jpg

follow up on my emerging spiritual path by becoming a monk of some kind for an indeterminate period of time

3.
image_services_bar_1.jpg

taking my boss up on his offer to pay for bartending school & teaching me all about the business
while I continue to work on my screenwriting on my own

what do you think I should do, or what would you do

ps: i mean it all well and good to waste time i guess, but its just not fulfilling like it use to be :o

Is it awful of me that I think college/university is pretty much useless if you're an artist of any sort? I say this from experience.

And don't go all monkish! Jeez. You only get one life.

Voted for #3

#2 is not for you, I don't think

#1 is a good option, but education is overrated sometimes, specially now with this economy... many highly educated people are losing their jobs left and right :(

#3 is an opportunity being presented to you, take advantage of it <333
you'll still have time to work on your writting : )

Team Robby <3

I say go for #3, it sounds like a great ooportunity is being offered to you, take it while you can! :thumb:

thx for your posts so far people :thumb:
and as to for the votes for monk so far

i bet some of those votes are by people here with spiritually empty lives*, which is kind of funny, dont you think? :lbf:
but seriously, i do want to go on at least a 2 month spiritual retreat this year
i think i will no matter what :guitar:

* = no, not you epBabe, dont get your panties in a bunch

Although I voted for bar business, I change my answer. Master in Education!!! Summers off! How can you complain about that?

well, if all goes "perfectly", i could do all 3
work more at the bar, take off 2 months this summer to go to "be with God" & stuff
then start school in September :)
will see, as long as i do one :lbf:

I voted none of the above.

1. Get into porn. Sure you'll have to do gay porn for a bit but eventually you'll get to do straight porn.

2. Stop pretending your English and live in a flat and go to uni. SRSLY!

Leonard Cohen did the monk thing and look what it got him.

1. i have had offers, i turned them down, you would not have, would you bored? :D

2. umm, if i had said "back to college*" then some of our dumber brit posters would have been confused cuz they think college is high school

*=for a masters i mean, i graduated from ucla in 01 :)

i would consider a spiritually empty life a bad thing, yes :o

It all depends on what you mean by "spiritually" though. A person doesn't need organized religion to feel the awe and wonder of being alive in this amazing universe. In fact, religion hinders it.

ok, so yeah, i bought a bartender's black book
boring stuff really, so yeah, if i dont enjoy bartending this summer
i think i am gonna go be a monk or something in the fall

Good luck with what you chose and whatever you choose in the future.

Also, you could probably Screen-Write without going back to Uni - so that could be another option. But I don't know.
