The Cure debut new songs and welcome Perry Bamonte back to band as they kick off 2022 tour

Check out 'Alone' and 'Endsong' from the long-awaited 'Songs Of A Lost World'

"Endsong" sounds straight from "Disintegration."

Both songs are astounding. It sounds as if they’re at the peak of their powers, yet no real news of when the album is released.

It's such a relief to hear those songs, because the 2004 and 2008 albums were both dreadful. And it has been an eternity since the last one. These sound like classic The Cure to me.

Amen to this. Those two albums are their worst.

Yes, Endsong is fabulous !!!

Here's another new song:

Alone, Endsong & And Nothing Is Forever are all titles which sound like The Cure has already used them. :D

It's been a long time since I've been excited about new Cure material - but I'm there. All 3 songs are wonderful.

yes, a return to form for sure. Even the most sycophantic of cure fans would have to agree that the two last albums are the worst in their catalogue
this new album sounds like Bob has realized that too.
He has been promising release dates later this year but that doesn't seem to be happening. hopefully I'm wrong, though.....

And Nothing Is Forever is a bit corny in the beginning, but gets better. Though I’m more interested in the album, is it even completed?

What’s up with that? Would be cool if someone posted the other live songs here, guess they’re not on YouTube?

And that’s a good thing? Hey, I loved that record as a kid, but why repeat formulas, is Bobby trying to appease the fans?
Ouch. Surly Moz fanatic lashes out against on-form Cure mastermind and Moz rival.

Is Morrissey trying to appease fans and repeat formulas since “Rebels” is sounding like a Cemetry Gates rip-off?

Who or what is a ‘on-form Cure mastermind’ ? And are you saying Bob is a rival of M?

Maybe. But thank god he didn’t put Smiths like lyrics to it.

Also, That’s why I liked lots of Dog so much, when he took a slightly different musical direction. Unfortunately the record was released at the wrong time, no tour or promotion then the world shut down.

More importantly, I always liked when The Cure tried different things, and I was hoping, because the record was taking so long , that it would and will be something amazing, which is why I was a bit disappointed with the Disintegration comment. That’s all really.

I want older artists to break new ground, because the younger artist’s/bands sure as hell aren’t doing it.
Robert Smith. And yes, media has been portraying them as rivals since the 80’s, and the idea of my joke/post was to sound like a headline.

Sadly, Moz hasn’t written lyrics on par with his Smiths lyrics in a long time.

And I’d rather take honest music and lyrics than “groundbreaking”. Sometimes you get both, but if I can only have one, I’ll take honest. And judging by the performances of this current tour, the new Cure songs are brutally honest and from the depths of RS.

Thanks.

These are a bit better, especially Endsong, which made me think of the Pornography album a little. Nothing new though.

Maybe the album as a whole will be good. 🤞

Ah ok.

I don’t think that’s a bad thing entirely. It seems a conscious decision on his part.

Yeah, I can agree with that. And when listening to these songs, I wish I had the lyric sheet, maybe that would add a new depth to these.

Maybe ‘groundbreaking’ isn’t the right word.

I just like artists to push themselves a little. Like Scott Walker did with his later work. Or Bowie with his Outside album and his last one Blackstar.

Not to say that I don't enjoy it, but I don’t really listen to/love Morrissey for the music side of it, that probably won’t make sense to most people. And I really can’t put it into words to explain further.
Might be, to some extent. It could also be that he discovered that he doesn’t really have that anymore and then decided to try this other style of expression instead.

Yeah, but that’s kind of what I mean. As long as their heart’s in it 100 percent, I don’t really care about them pushing themselves. Would be great if they did and if they did it because they felt that that’s the direction their art has to go, but don’t do it if you don’t feel you have to. Scott Walker, I think, felt he had to. Same with Bowie. That’s who they were.

No, I get it. Moz is a poet. It’s his lyrics that draw you in. Oftentimes, the vocal melodies and the music are just as great and that’s amazing.

Some would call it laziness, but I think there is a bit of ‘been there done that’ mentality at play, him asking himself do I really need to
continue writing that way, do I still feel that way, am I still that person? Just moving on.

Yes and, at the end of the day, it’s really about that voice. It embodies everything that I ever needed, to carry on through it, and still be here today.

Speaking of Robert Smith, thought this Retweet was a bit unusual. Maybe a show or collab in the offing?

I never really could get into The Cure, aside from the few songs everyone seems to like. My best friend was a huge Robert Smith fans so we used to have debates about who was cooler and dreamier, Robert or Moz? She named one of her kids after Robert Smith :lbf:

I implore you to immerse yourself in the epic, nine-minute masterpiece that is “The Same Deep Water As You”.

This is very strange.

I think it’s definitely a case of him not being the same person. There’s definitely been a shift there. I think this is part of the truth.

That’s beautiful.
