"You say you don't agree with meat but you are eating something like it" etc. Why are they so keen to tell us stories about vegetarian friends who got drunk and then ate a bacon sandwich? And why, when I am innocently eating a vegetarian meal, should I be grilled (haha) by people who have no interest in seriously listening to my reasons? It never ceases to amaze me how I, as a vegetarian, am expected to justify my dietary choices to meat-eaters!? And listen to stupid jokes about their last carnivorous activity. I do struggle with "vegetarians who eat fish" and who are so strong about not eating "meat", but at least they are doing something I suppose.

Actually those products were introduced for people who are moving on from meat to a meat free diet; to ease them away from meat. People who have either never eaten meat or have been vegetarians or vegans for many years don't eat them, as they don't like the taste of meat. The fact that there are so many fake meat products on the supermarket shelves is testament to the fact that there are more enlightened people than tbis thread would suggest.

I'll become a vegetarian when the other animals become vegetarians too. Take a hike in the woods and shake hands with a bear sometime, see how that goes. The fact is, we are animals. Our instinct is to eat meat to survive. We are no different from any other animal.
