Support acts for Morrissey?

Do a Boston Opera House and have no support acts... you can do it Morrissey, I know you can

It's not like anything really special happened in Boston, outside of hearing "The Queen is Dead." In fact, many people were annoyed that they had to wait 2 hours from door time to stage time. He did not extend his set by even one song, nor did he move up his set start time a bit to compensate for no opener. He didn't even add in any extra videos.

I would not rate the logistics of the recent Boston show as a model to be emulated on a large scale.

A while back, someone started an Anna Calvi thread and suggested her as a Morrissey opener. While there hasn't been anything official announced yet, they just might get their wish...

Yeah, that was a bit of a drag. Door time should have been pushed back. Since it wasn't, many people (myself included) expected Morrissey to at least take the stage earlier than his scheduled 9:00 slot, but instead we wound up standing around for three hours. Nevertheless, it was a really fantastic show.

oh man i saw the dears play there third album at the 9:30 club in d.c. and they were stupid good and there last album i could argue to be there best. there was a band im embarrassingly blanking on that was all female, canadian i think, who sounded so indebted to the smiths. did a song called love love love i think and made a music video that had them in there underwear around there house (not in an overtly sexy way, kinda bummy). album might have had the word city in it and i think she was a lesbian. if you can think of what theyre called id be forever grateful. anyway if you know of whom i speak i always thought theyd be great as a morrissey opener. personally i think he should use different opening bands for each continent.

THe ORgan. Quality band, quality album. Split up ages ago as someone else has said

Anna Calvi will be supporting Morrissey in Berlin and Essen! Source: mlk.de

P.S. Essen is sold out!

I was there, holding up the front of the stage for that 2 hour wait, and I would much rather repeat that wait than have to sit through the likes of Kristeen again.

Ha, you're right! Maybe she will be kicked from the tour before the first date! The poster is on her official facebook page.

Morrissey is spitting claret at his screen as we speak.

Maybe the record company have done that for Anna's FB page as she's quite a big name, Moz will most probably have his own proper one somewhere down the line.

I bet Julia is relieved. :D

OMG Morrissey would love to be under her in any circumstance, I'm sure he doesn't give a shit.

That style is used by Anna's management for all her tour posters. That poster is meant more for the Anna fans than the Moz fans...it's an "Anna Calvi" tour poster, not a "Morrissey" tour poster. I suspect the Morrissey camp will have their own released at some point.

Anna Calvi and Kristeen Young, has there ever been a more perfect example of the difference between class and trash? I would love to be at one of the shows with Anna opening, hope she and Morrissey do some shows together in the US someday.

cool bluebirds. yes someone else did respond but thanks for your reply as well. it was kinda in response to bg mentioning the cardigans for nostalgias sake which prompted me to think of a semi nostalgic morrissey related act. i did know that they had broken up or at least only released the one album which was pretty solid.

.....

It would be cool if a band from each respective country, in that country, opened. Logistically, I believe this is more economical for all parties. Often, it gets the home crowd going. Morrissey has done this before (The Dears in Canada), etc. Perhaps, we could break this down by nation. Portugal would be the logical starting point. So, let's start with Sweden.
