Support acts for Morrissey?

Radio Dept. for all the right reasons!!!

First Aid Kit (for all the wrong reasons). :horny:

The Cardigans for nostalgia.

It would be cool if a band from each respective country, in that country, opened. Logistically, I believe this is more economical for all parties. Often, it gets the home crowd going. Morrissey has done this before (The Dears in Canada), etc. Perhaps, we could break this down by nation. Portugal would be the logical starting point. So, let's start with Sweden.

That's a good idea.

oh man i saw the dears play there third album at the 9:30 club in d.c. and they were stupid good and there last album i could argue to be there best. there was a band im embarrassingly blanking on that was all female, canadian i think, who sounded so indebted to the smiths. did a song called love love love i think and made a music video that had them in there underwear around there house (not in an overtly sexy way, kinda bummy). album might have had the word city in it and i think she was a lesbian. if you can think of what theyre called id be forever grateful. anyway if you know of whom i speak i always thought theyd be great as a morrissey opener. personally i think he should use different opening bands for each continent.

Fine choice, great band.

Well, we can rule out Tegan and Sara...or can we?

Then, there is t.A.T.u. - please see link below...

From the original creators, Marr found t.A.T.u.'s version "just silly" but Morrissey viewed it much more favourably:

Interviewer: Did you hear t.A.T.u's version of 'How Soon Is Now'?

Morrissey: Yes, it was magnificent. Absolutely. Again, I don't know much about them.

Interviewer: They're the teenage Russian lesbians.

Morrissey: Well, aren't we all?

The Organ. (I didn't know that, I just looked on Wikipedia.) They broke up in 2006:

oh b.g im just gonna take your post as a joke not an insult lol. thanks chickpea thats totally what im thinking of. i tried google and allmusic to no avail as the word(s) love love love is used in everything. thank you so much for that as there album was so good and obviously a heavily smiths influenced band. im gonna go out and buy that today.

block party would also be a good opener. i loved there second album

Do a Boston Opera House and have no support acts... you can do it Morrissey, I know you can

This. ANd you can be home in bed by ten instead of dragging out the night. Make it a two-come tour. :D

I would enjoy no opening act and a longer Morrissey set also. I think Ivy Levan would make a great opener for him.

id love another ordinary boys album as i thought they ended on a high note with how to get everything...it was my fav record of theres

I don't think I've ever enjoyed standing/waiting through an opening band, no matter who it is. I honestly would prefer that shows are just one artist, unless it's a festival or whatever. I always feel like openers kill the momentum and excitement of waiting for the main act.

Maybe I'd feel differently if I were a drinker? It seems like the main purpose of opening bands is to give people time to buy beer and use the bathroom while their friends hold their spots.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if he brought out the Smoking Popes again, I'd be a happy guy. Otherwise...no opener needed. :)
