I have a very important suede question.
Since there seem to be quite a few suede fans here I was hoping you could help me out with the following:
On the song “Always” - the story of a stalker - according to the official lyrics, the words of the last chorus are
I will always be near
I will always be near
Always be near
but I have a suspicion that he, in fact, sings
I will always be missed
I will always be missed
Always be near
(and then he kills himself).
I don’t trust the official lyrics at all. Clearly, in the last verse he sings “like the knife that twists in your hand and it’s calling again”, not “it’s starting again”.
Could of course be the dreadful distortion and clipping all over Bloodsports (what a fantastic album, what shitty mixing and mastering) that makes “near” sound like “missed”, but I’m leaning more towards the incorrect official lyrics alternative.
