in reading my new issue of parenting magazine 'cookie' they have a reoccurring article about the best 'adult' music for your child to listen to and they give a themed list... this month the theme was 'instrumentals' and number 10 was 'oscillate wildly'. yay!!!:thumb:

Watching WWE Breaking Point, the commentator just said something like "you have to ask the question how soon is now?" then followed it up with "everyday is like Sunday for William Regal [wrestler]."

Same guy just said "now the ringleader of the tormentors, William Regal..."

:squiffy:

The lovely Kele from Bloc Party was wearing a rather fetching white Meat is Murder t-shirt at their Edinburgh gig lat night - nice.

(He also called Edinburgh "Glasgow" at one point but fortunately for him most of the crowd had travelled through and/or not entirely sure where they were either...)

From Bright lights, big ass, a comedic autobiography by Jen Lancaster -

(Jen is 'me' and her husband is Fletch)

Me: What's so funny?

Fletch: The guy next to us has a Morrissey bumper sticker and he's driving an Escort. He may as well put on a bumper sticker that reads 'Kick me.'

Me: I don't get it.

Fletch: Jen, the sticker says Morrissey. You know, Morrissey? It's funny.

Me: I don't get it.

Fletch: Morrissey? An Escort? A little tiny guy driving it wearing big Drew Carey glasses? He's practically begging for someone to beat him up.

Me: I don't get it.

Fletch: (sighs) Never mind.

I was flipping through the book "Bandslam: Will's Guide to Music" (I guess it's associated with the movie) yesterday in the kids/teens section in Borders when I happened upon a small section on The Smiths...Basically it said something about their influence on all indie music to come after, "emo" lyrics, etc. So...yeah.

Not sure if this was posted but I flipping through the channels on the television one time and landed on this movie which I couldn't remember the title for the life of me. Anyways, there was a scene were the main character was getting hassled by his colleagues or something and he replied to something someone said with "Oscar Wilde strikes again!" but said in the same way 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' is said. It was interesting.

The instrumental version of This Charming Man is currently being used on BBC2s The Dragon's Den on tour.

Which is nice

Dave

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Smiths mentioned and How soon is now played on"When Boris met Dave" on channel 14 now.
they said that David Cameron listened to The Smiths at Eton....... oh the irony

Very boring this one, just seen it there. From the Weakest Link:

Q. What is the name of the band with guitarist Johnny Marr and vocalist Morrissey? (or something to that effect)

A ...........sadly the person didn't know. I'm heartbroken, I really am

I do like the Weakest Link :thumb:

It isn't the sort of thing that you shout from the rooftops, my dear but so do I and I'm sure some of the questions wouldn't seems out of place on University Challenge either. :thumb:

:thumb:

Its a great show, and a lot of the questions are tricky. It's funny how hard it is to win and yet the prize is only ever about two thousands pounds, considerably less than what you can earn by simply opening up some boxes on cwrtain other shows  :lbf:

Randomly found this.

In Junot Diaz' The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, a character's mother throws away her Smiths and Sisters of Mercy posters (60).

There is also a reference to Morrissey in Audrey Niffenegger's new book, Her Fearful Symmetry, but I'll let someone who has read it post it.

As I was dozing off in my Phonetics & Phonology university class earlier today, the teacher randomly made this comment: "I have just discovered... Some verbs are bigger than others". Startled the heck out of me, that did.
