Strange/unexpected Moz references?

I would disagree sir. I reckon she's clueless.

So does Moz, now. Beware the disciple scorned. That's what trying to psychotherapise the man will get yer.
The best bit of that programme was Mr.Bracewell's line about bearing witness to entire coachloads of off-duty gas fitters from Bolton tearing each other limb from limb to get on stage to hug Morrissey. I laughed. Then cried.
:)

Yes, that was my best part too. As for Shaw, they were hardly friends so it's just her opinion. I think she's very low on the list of people in the know.

Cheers billy! :thumb:
Did I say I was a world authority on all things Morrissey? No I did not. I just doubt that Sandie Shaw is though. You disagree. There there.
Yes, I did cry; that particular live footage from 'Introducing Morrissey' often makes me do that. Sue me.
I, myself, am not full of shit. But my back lounge is. The men cleared and disinfected it this very day. True fact :(

The Vegetarian arrived today. Morrissey is one of many famous and non famous on the front cover and he is the first person mentioned, before Macca (with picture and facts/quote)

There's is also a mention to Arnold Hills, the managing Director of Thames Iron Works.
The first president of both the London Vegetarian Society and Vegetarian Cycling and Athletic club. He encouraged workers at The Thames Iron Works to play sport, funding the football team. In 1900 they turned professional and changed their name to West Ham United.

the man who loved yngve, a film from norway
which has almost all smiths singles on the wall of the main character`s bedroom
saw it a while ago, now this week it gets a rerun in one of the hamburg`s cinema`s again
SYNOPSIS
November 1989. The Berlin wall collapses. In Stavanger Norway, Jarle Klepp has no idea that everything is about to change. So far he has got everything; the best girlfriend in the world and the world's coolest buddy. Together they will soon launch Stavanger's toughest punk band, Mathias Rust Band. But then Yngve, the new boy in class, appears and he starts to fall in love with him. A sparkling, dramatic, coming of age comedy, with music from some of the leading rock bands from the period, such as Stone Roses, The Cure, REM, Japan, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Joy Division. Based on the best selling book "I Loved Them All" by Tore Renberg.

this film is not he only film with a queer storyline: gregg araki `s the living end about two gay hiv positive men on a road trip-as they are running away from the law.
araki wanted to use morrissey`s music but was either refused or did cost too much so he settled for a kill uncle shirt instead.

3 times : in dialogue, clothing and interieur: one of the male character talking about his fave celeb crushes when he was a teen: "river phoenix , the one from psb and morrissey",
also was the character wearing a morrissey shirt
plus smiths covers were plastered all over the record store which he character was visiting.
screenwriter gal uchovsky mentions the smiths covers in the interview with moz 2008.

Heard the 10,000 Maniacs cover of Everyday Is Like Sunday on the jukebox while I sat in a dark bar eating lunch and drinking a beer today. It was strangely soothing/depressing.

Thanks for an informative post, sistasheila.

'The Bubble' storyline reminds me of 'Yossi & Jagger', also Israeli, though I can't recall a Smiths reference in the latter. I've never read Stirfry, must track it down. Someone mentioned on the front page that a new film is in progress, called 'Unhappy Birthday' - this one maybe -http://www.facebook.com/pages/Unhappy-Birthday/111760252192750#!/pages/Unhappy-Birthday/111760252192750?v=info - which might be relevant.

Outrage in Blackpool over a light that never goes out!

Although one helpful person suggested thicker curtains in the comments section at the end of the article. Just common sense really...

As Socialist Worker disrupts the negotiations between BA and Unite the Union, my attention is drawn to the protester in the 'William it was really nothing' t-shirt.

Viva la revolution!
