Play review:
Went to Amy Lamé’s Unhappy Birthday, her performance / party thing at Camden People’s Theatre, and it was CRAZY. It’s autobiographical, about how much Amy loves Morrissey, how he was there for her as she grew up as an outsider. I don’t like Morrissey, but it’s her party, so everyone who goes sits there and listens to her. We even had to sing along with her at the end – Morrissey songs only… Nothing like Glee, at all.
We played pass the parcel and Amy told a story with each thing that got unwrapped. People got dragged out and dressed up as Morrissey, she’s posting ALL the pictures on Twitter ( #unhappybirthday), which is awesome because there’s now a huge collection of normal people being Morrissey and dancing with her on the internet...

After Joey Barton's exploits yesterday (I think Manchester City should take him on the open top bus parade tonight, if it wasn't for his temper tantrums and attempted assaults on 3 Man City players there wouldn't have been 5 mins of Fergie time at the Etihad and Man Utd would have won the title) he has taken to Twitter to criticise Alan Shearer.

For those who do not know the significance of yesterday here, courteosy of the Guardian, is Joey's tweets featuring an exceprt from Still Ill.
How ironic considering his anger management courses have seemingly failed!

The QPR captain will serve an automatic four-match ban for his dismissal for elbowing the City striker Carlos Tevez during the second half at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. However, he seems certain to face additional sanctions from the Football Association for his subsequent attacks on the match-winner Sergio Agüero and the City captain Vincent Kompany which, with the add-ons for previous dismissals, could see him start next season with a nine-match suspension.

Shearer condemned the player, who he coached during his short spell managing Newcastle in 2009, during Sunday night's Match of the Day, prompting Barton's rant.

"Shearers still on my case... "I know I f*cked up Alan, thanks for stating the obvious," Barton tweeted.

He added: "Whilst were both stating the obvious about each other, can I just say for the record what a great player u were. Well better me...

"But I have a better hair (which is not hard), wear well better shirts on TV and have a personality(something u lack).

"P.S. My final point, ur a s*** pundit/manager...

"I really don't like that prick, in fact I honestly despise him... Goodnight.

"I'd take it off Hansen and @GaryLineker but not from that bell, same fella that stamped on Neil Lennon ...". He added: "Selfish, boring man him. He can do one...

"My favourite memory of him though is when he dropped his spuds when Keano put it on him. Goodnight Al, sleep well matey..."

Barton had previously taken to the social media site to apologise for his red card and claimed that, once he had been sent off, he was trying to "take 1 of theirs with me". But Shearer's co-presenter Gary Lineker believed his attack was an effort to deflect attention from his behaviour at Manchester City.

"No deflections here mate. Think the fact about 100m people seen it will see to that. Just don't like how he gets personal …" replied Barton on Twitter on Monday morning.

He added: "Right enough about yesterday, I apologise to everyone offended by it. If that's not enough for some, so be it. Life is too short.

"Things happen on the pitch, in the heat of battle sometimes. Not how we always plan them to happen.

"For there are brighter sides to life and I should know because I seen them, but not very often …"

Barton tweeted on Sunday night: "Can do nothing but apologise to the players and fans. Still don't think it is a sending off. Still not my proudest moment but who gives a f***. We are safe.

"The head was never gone at any stage. Once I'd been sent off, one of our players suggested I should try to take 1 of theirs with me. Never worked but god loves a trier.

"Think a few people are forgetting Tevez started the fracas by throwing a punch to the head

More Joey Barton Smths related tweets after abusing Gary "Mr Squeaky Clean" Lineker earlier.

After his expletive filled rant at Alan Shearer, QPR midfielder Joey Barton has started a Twitter war of words with another BBC pundit Gary Lineker.

Barton blasted Shearer criticising him on Match of the Day 2 after he was sent off against Manchester City for violent conduct on the last day of the season.

The QPR player was dismissed for an off-the-ball elbow on Carlos Tevez before kicking Sergio Aguero to the ground and squaring up to both Vincent Kompany and Mario Balotelli as he left the field.

England legend Lineker defended Shearer by posting a message to Barton saying:

Still raging then? Still kicking out? And still, presumably, misunderstood? But only by yourself I suspect.

That was enough to refuel the controversial player's anger and he responded with a string of venomous retorts that included a threat to reveal the skeletons in the former England striker's closet.

"do u wanna go there publicly "Mr Squeaky Clean" ? Think u should have a look in that vast closet of skeltons before u respond

"I know a lot about THAT side to u the people don't and won't bat an eye lid at exposing u. So mind ur manners Squeaky...

"now back under your stone you odious little toad..."

Barton left it at that before revealing how he would spend the rest of the day.

"Today, I will mostly be spending time with friends or listening to The Smiths... goodday"

Before adding: ".....So that means I am just listening to The Smiths!"

Saint Etienne's new album 'Words and music' uses artwork from from a Song Map - the artwork is slightly different from the poster (it looks like the next page in the a-z) but Maudlin St is featured on the album sleeve (very bottom edge near left hand corner)

The map itself (not the album sleeve) features a number of Smiths / Morrissey references (including Back to the Old House)
