Songs Morrissey should cover

Obvious person
There's a lot of wonderful songs in this thread! Maybe there's some space in this cover album for Morrissey by Leo García. This song made me know about him.

You fail to realize that Killing an Arab has nothing to do with white supremacy. It’s a song based on Albert Camus’ existentialist novel The Stranger. But thanks for playing!
You think Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin or I'm A White Boy by Merle Haggard have anything to do with white supremacy?

On Timeout
Here’s to you, Mr(s) Robinson

Aubrey McFate

Lonely in Barcelona
With Jesse Tobias in Years of Refusal mode, and then adios, J.T.:

I Wanna Destroy You (The Soft Boys)
Boys Get Straight (Johnny Marr)

Studio versions of songs previously covered live:

My Insatiable One (Suede)
Trash (The New York Dolls)

Then invite some new musicians in. Feel out possible future collaborators.

Dark Globe (Syd Barrett)
Sexuality (Billy Bragg)
Death of Samantha (Yoko Ono) Invite Nick Saloman to do the arrangement. Lay on the wah-wah psychedelia. Twelve minutes long.

Last song on the record:

Morrissey (Anal Cunt)

I straighten up, and my position is one of hope.

I've been listening to the Cherry Red C86 series of indie compilation CD's from the Eighties and think it would be a nice gesture for him to cover some of those as many of the tracks are quite obviously love letters to The Smiths.

'Cold Water Morning' by Neil Diamond:

One, knowing I'm one, hearing of two
And like a child believing dreams
Always a dream to take you home

Day, after the day, there comes the night
There comes the knowing when you laugh
If you should laugh,
The night alone will hear
And the night don't care

Coldwater morning
Take off your night-time shoes
Coldwater morning
I've been waiting so long for you

One, knowing I'm one, hearing of two
Hearing of things that I once had
That you once had
And when the night would come
We'd sleep like one

Coldwater morning
Take off your night-time shoes
Coldwater morning
I've been waiting so long for you
I've been waiting so long for you...
One of my personal favourites. Nice!

By the way, look at these lyrics. It makes me wonder about Chris Isaak. He's singing directly to the guy here, and this is on his album San Francisco Days. Either way, I think it's a cool song for Morrissey to cover, and it's in the same vein as "(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame."

"Except the New Girl"
Chris Isaak

Drive your mustang down, to where you hang out
Alone without a friend
Girls walk by you, some in fact have tried you
But once they tried they never tried again

Except the new girl
Except the new girl
Alone and lonesome, trusting no one they say
You've never had a friend
People talk about you, they say they doubt you really
Ever let anybody in
Except the new girl
Except the new girl
I guess there's never been anyone
Except the new girl
Except the new girl
Last time I saw him, he was laughing
She was standing by his side
I've got a feeling, that they're still together
From the look that was in his eyes
There's no one
Except the new girl
Except the new girl
See him smile, he don't care
Says he loves her, and he'll always love her
See him smile, it seems fair

That he finally found her, finally hold her
There's no one
Except the new girl

I love these homoerotic undertones.
