On the other hand, how many Europeans are able to name all the states of the U.S.A.? Not to mention their capitals.

Depends which state. If it's relevant in terms of history or culture (such as films, books or television shows).

I don't know the capital of Vermont, but I can tell you Olympia is the capital of Washington. f*** knows anything about Maine, but Bismark is the capital of North Dakota.

And so on.

How many Europeans need to know what the state capital of Idaho and Montana are?;)

Depends if I'm on Eggheads or not.

EDIT: Boise and Helena, respectively.

How many Americans need to know the capital of Hungary?

But do not get me wrong, that woman is a moron.

Yeah, it wasn't so much that she didn't know the capital of Hungary, it's more that she didn't even know France or Hungary were countries.

I thought Florida was Jacksonville.

Shit.

Everything I have ever believed in is a lie.

and that she thought Europe was a country too:D

I think what this highlights is the fact that American's on the whole do not travel outside their own country. Is it only one in ten have a passport or something like that? I'm very good on geography (Greek Island questions apart) as I have travelled a lot around the world except the far east and the Indian sub continent, so have aquired the knowledge as I have travelled.

I don't really have a problem with Americans not travelling outside their country, because some places in the U.S. are pretty far away from other countries. What I do have a problem with is that some aren't even aware of other countries.

And I am sitting here at home yelling HUNGARY HUNGARY HUNGARY. Absolutely disgraceful. Oh the woes of being an American :(

I was alright on Europe until the Russian states and Yugoslavian, Czech sections all split up and now I haven't a Scooby as to what they are all now:confused:
