Site moderation feedback

Nice move, while you leave the aggressive and totally unrelated Johnny Marr post in the Alain Whyte thread.
You know how to scare people away and give some antisocial individuals a daily platform to post their utter bullshit in serious threads.

If I was Morrissey, I would hate this site too, but maybe not for the reasons he does. If I saw such absolutely deranged filth posted on a site with my name on it and now add to that the allegations of child abuse against the father of the child he brought up on stage the other night, and that abuse was said to have happened at that show, by someone writing a 'review' here as a registered user, I would do everything in my power to shut this place down.
What if that child reads this site? Should he be subjected to those allegations and the rape pornography that is posted here? It's gone too far.

What surprises me is that journalists see this site as a reflection of him & build story angles on it.

I know they've got very limited access, but using us as a substitute is deeply flawed.

What on earth do you think you're going on about?

Quite why this Carlislebaz character is permitted to remain on this site is a real puzzle to me. Having trawled through quite a few of his vile posts I can state for sure that I've never read such awful 'stuff' on a music-related website site. Why do the moderators allow it?
It should be deleted, not transferred to the OT thread where it can still be read by site visitors (of all ages), and he should be removed completely. It really is quite embarrassing to see on this web site. The worst stuff seems to appear in the early hours of the morning, possibly triggered by late night drinking, and which he seems to be very proud. Disgraceful content, disgraceful moderation.

I know you don’t see it but you have changed dramatically.
You think Moz is a money-grabber, a drunk, a friend of the Far Right, a conspiracy nut, a sad bitter man… on and on, etc. Who are you trying to convince? He’s lost half his fans already and it’s not like Solo has ever been filled with glowing praise, so why care? Your crusade is pointless - as pointless as Karen's doomed mission to 'rehabilitate' his image. It's a waste of time. He isn't going to change for anybody, he is going to die the way he is, and at some point you have to accept that.

No matter how many times someone urges you to calm down, remember that it's just pop music at the end of the day and ‘detach’ from something that is a colossal waste of mental energy, you can’t do it.
and he pays $10 a year for the privilege of sharing his fascinating insights.

@davidt Is there any way that, upon clicking a thread, that it could take you to the last page of the thread, as opposed to the first one? All that excessive clicking and scrolling is just too much. Just take me to the most recent comment please.

On some links it does that. Try creating a login, that may help.

Instead of clicking on the thread title, click on the bit where it says “4 minutes ago/Yesterday at 10:40pm” next to the thread title.

moderators at work

On the whole, I love this site. Otherwise I would not use it. Mostly, it is a great platform to learn about and discuss Morrissey. It should not be, but sadly often is, a platform which is used to verbally assault others. Whenever user A questions user B for a potentially sensitive comment, another user, C, almost inevitably blasts user A (in an often offensive manner). Moderators should be taking action against the user Cs of this world, according to the posting policy, but apparently rarely do. I'm fully expecting someone, somewhere to be unhappy about this post in mind, body and soul, in part, although I believe in my comments in whole.

How do you know a mod didn't take an action, if the comment was deleted before you see it? You don't know what you don't know.

True, it's just that the same users tend to consistently post offensive comments, showing that the action taken against them (if any is) is often not severe enough to deter them from carrying on posting in a similar fashion. Also, I recently reported a post which clearly breached the posting policy, but my report was ruthlessly shut down by a moderator.

By the way, I don't have any personal feelings against moderators or anything of such like, so I apologise if you took my previous post personally or felt you had to defend it, David.

Thanks and kind regards, LHCJ.

It's true the site is more hands off than most, users are mainly on their own to self-censor / ignore. If there is something serious like personal information being posted we'll step in.

Thanks for that explanation, @davidt, since I have never seen an explanation about what the report button is actually for. Are there any other examples?
