Moz has alot of mental health issues, see something is squeezing my skull. Sometimes he can face it, others he can not, much like most of us.

I think this might be the real issue, and might be part of the reason that some people want to brush it aside. However, if this is true, it is not shameful, just personal. I'm afraid that some people want to "protect" Morrissey too much and this, I feel, is insulting to him. He is not quite that vulnerable, in my opinion.

It's funny that the issue of mental health hovers around this thread, and the ways that it is used.

It's not in the slightest. it's Morrissey's job to be Morrissey. there are no terms of employment that everyone agreed to before all this started. He owes fans nothing. And no I am not a sheep, I just can't think of a reasoned argument where i can justify being owed anything by him.

no one REALLY owes anyone anything. It's just that if someone you care for disregards you for long enough you are forced to desensitize yourself, and I've never felt that Morrissey was about being LESS caring.

Sowee, but it is just basic common sense that as a singer who earns money from cds & performing, he provides those products for his fans, and therefore, it is in his very best interests to keep his fans happy i.e. so he has people to sing to.
How many people on here have you seen going 'that's it, no more albums, no more gigs' after this or that has happened? Admittedly that's hysterical, but those people do exist, whether you like it, or he does.
In the very basic of senses, he doesn't owe me anything, you're right, but that goes both ways.

You shouldn't expect Morrissey acts like Bono.

i don't think he cares less dave i can only go off what he has said many times and that is that he does what he wants and feels no pressure to live up to the expectations of fans, the media or anyone else frankly.

if i made plans with a friend and then got sick and had to cancel those plans, i would call them and say "yo im sorry, but im sick. i cant make it." doesnt mean i did anything "wrong" but you still say you're sorry. doesnt mean you did anything on purpose.

On a further note, it's pretty common that the promoter will issue if a concert is cancelled / postpone etc, as it's normally THEIR job to do so.

Yea, I think he should. It's the honourable thing to do, and it would be a nice gesture. All these cancellations are not on.

A simple message through his Myspace page would be more than adequate. Lesser musicians than Morrissey do a hell of a lot more for their fans.

This has been going on for years. I'm one of those people who has forked out (and lost) hundreds, if not thousands of pounds on Travel expenses in recent years. Cancellations in NY and LA to name but a few...

It's very annoying when the sychophantic slags of the forum and on the main board start hurling abuse at people who are quite understandably angry with Moz and upset at all these cancellations. That just rubs even more salt in the wounds. These people have a right to be upset, so give the brown nosing a f***ing rest for once.

Morrissey was alright until 22nd.
On 23rd dave2006 pointed out that Morrissey wasn't in a good condition, but somehow he managed to finish the gig.
Really hope Morrissey will see the specialist and gets help from him / her.

i really enjoy reading people whine about him missing gigs actually
ive been to like 30 gigs or more, he never canceled any i went to
sure there was that trouble at Pauley, but it was cool in the end just to be there
so yeah, whine all you want guys, it really is fun to read

Apology or not, I'm not really bothered. I don't need an apology from Morrissey for cancelling Troxy (and the other dates) to cheer me up, nor do I think I am entitled to one - as far as I'm concerned, he hasn't done anything 'wrong'. We choose to buy tickets to his shows and so choose to travel, stay in strange cities, et cetera; in making that choice we should be acutely aware that something may go wrong, as it does happen, and ought to be prepared to deal with the disappointment. I'm not going to let the cancellation ruin my day/week, though I am somewhat disappointed. A message explaining the situation would be ok, but I don't really think it's necessary.

I have been a huge fan of Morrissey for years but have lost respect for him recently over all these cancellations. I think he is treating fans with contempt frankly.

I don't think he's treating us with contempt. He doesn't really owe us anything, yet he has still rescheduled RAH and Birmingham. I really don't think it is in his best interest to cancel concerts, and I don't think he would unless he had to. I can't imagine that he likes cancelling shows, but it is preferable to giving shoddy performances and ruining his vocal chords which seem to be causing him problems.
