Yes, of course, you're right on this. But, what I can't stand is to see people around here or journalists all over saying that he changed, that he used to be in the other side and things like that. He was always an outsider. His opinions on music and politics, mainly, were always outburst and virulent.
I’m not British, but I do love that place, but from everything I see in the world of today is that, comparing with 80’s the “left wing” rose in many countries like France, UK, Brazil, Spain, Germany, just to name a few and I really DON’T see much difference. They simply CAN’T OR DON’T want to do the things that would more equality to the society and I’m not talking about utopian communism or socialism. And he is echoing this when he says Tories and Conservatives are the same “bag of cats” (no intention to offend the cats here, please).
So, I saw Morrissey advocating for animals in Meat is Murder, when veganism was very alternative and, then, 30 years later advocating against Politics (“every time you vote, you support the process”), when being somewhat
an anarchist is pretty much alternative. And the process, in my opinion, is that no matter who is on the rise, he will be changed, and no changes will be allowed. Corruption, bribery, make believe… economic power is the one that elects A, B or C.
And, many here will say the contrary, but although I think he says too much (Bigmouth will always strike again), most of the things he says are echoed by the press out of the context, like the Spiegel interview. His fault was mix things up saying he did not say the things he actually said. But, again, this is more of the same, since he states the press misquotes him since Smiths’ era. In Spiegel case he would be more successful if he had chosen to state that the other newspaper, magazines and sites brought everything out of the context, which was true.
So, yes, the World had changed, but not Moz. So, blame him not because he changed his opinions, but because he DID NOT. And, of course, walk away… and be kind and gentle.
