My best guess is that the originals from 1983 contained the Dome logo, but by the time the single was reissued in 1984 they could no longer use it due to copyright infringement on Capitol Records. This change was initiated with This Charming Man when Rough Trade was forced to switch to the Rubber Stamp logo. They may have printed more Hand In Glove posters for the resissue, but removed the Dome to comply with Capitol.

Anyone else have a theory?

Yep, i tend to agree with this theory.
