All true, but I think Morrissey has (sadly) come full circle here. Remember his comments on Band Aid? I'm sure it raised some money for Ethiopia, but it was basically just for show, or what we would now call "virtue-signalling." It was Bob Gedolf and Messiah-complex Bono prancing around and showing off their do-goodism. And Morrissey (rightly) said:

The whole implication was to save these people in Ethiopia, but who were they asking to save them? Some 13-year-old girl in Wigan! People like Thatcher and the royals could solve the Ethiopian problem within ten seconds.

But the truth in this case is, some 13-year-old girl in Wigan who goes vegan tomorrow will have more of an impact on factory farming than the sanctimonious voters of Berkeley, many of whom will keep on eating factory-farmed meat. Since they don't have factory farms in their own vicinity, this ban costs them absolutely nothing and its effect is absolutely zero. Showing it off is just that: showing off. Sadly there are Bonos everywhere. Morrissey should be sharing a 13-yr-old on TikTok declaring their veganism instead of this.
