Great stream-of-consciousness summary, thanks!

Curious to hear him mention Youtube...on Youtube.

Amazing show, great energy from where I sat. Calm but everyone into it and singing along. There was a half hearted attempt to sing happy birthday between the show and the encore while he wasn't even onstage. :p there just wasn't ever a long enough pause, I think we were anticipating hearing what he had to say between songs and didn't want to disrupt that. The band was tight and Moz's voice perfect. Some of the banter included declaring that the audience was free, as in free to fly I assume. Also he said he's been following the election and told us not to vote. (Don't listen to him. Vote for BARrack. Kthx.) he also said that when we were safe at home in bed and our hands under the covers to think of him. He made reference to St Rita and how she's the patron saint of lost causes and guides him. If there's YouTube footage of that it is cute as hell because he was all tongue tied and sweet. I'm sorry I can't remember the song it was before. He did pay homage to Robin Gibb before MIM which was awesome. Some strange lyric changes in Please, Please, Please. Something about YouTube, I couldn't hear it. Also couldn't read what the bands shirts said if anyone caught that. He only through one shirt to the crowd during LMKY. I did see a dude leave on a stretcher in the back. That guy whose neck everyone thought was snapped somehow came from backstage, I saw the whole thing, kind of freaky because it caught security off guard which might explain why they were harsh. The parking lot crowd was delightful. If I were a stoner I could've been so high last night, three different offers to smoke out. :D it was a fantastic party. Except driving away, I always get massive seoeration anxiety and sadness, and a two hour drive alone is no fun, but after that wore off my memory of the night was that it was fantastic and Morrissey seemed to have an awesome time. I was honored to be a part of it.

It looks like he had a fit of giggles, just before this cuts off.... Did someone in the crowd make him laugh?

It seemed to me he had a good laugh to the crowd reaction to the lyric change "let me have who I want this time." The song is without lyrics from that point on, strictly instrumental music, so he could not and did not lose the melody/lyric. After stating YouTube, YouTube, he stepped away and came back to the mic and said, "slap, slap, slap slap" in rhythm with the music all while gesturing with his pimp hand an openhanded and backhanded slapping motion

Does anyone remember the exact quote that was something like this: "When you're in bed, with your hands under the covers, think of me."

Did you actually read the paper? I did with my binnoculars and there was no poem on it. Moz was just reciting it and pretending to read it. It was the Oscar Wilde cartoon, but instead it said something about Morrissey's 53rd birthday.

Anyway, the concert was fun until the Meet Your Meat video played. I think I was the only one disgusted, but that's because I'm vegan. The meat eaters were unphased. This show was for meat eaters only. I actually sold my extra ticket (won them on 91X!) to a stranger because I didn't think it would be proper to bring a meat eater, but it totally would have been. There were so many fat meat eaters there. Moz purportedly contracts to keep the meat vendors shut down at his concerts, and while the corn dog vender was shut down, a pizza vendor was selling pepperoni pizza. I saw fat girls getting personal pizzas and I specifically walked back to read the menu and make sure it didn't say "vegan pizza." It said, "Pepperoni pizza." I totally narc'd to the PETA table and they thanked me for my concern and were disappointed. Maybe Moz has a breach of contact claim with Valley View Casino Arena. I can be his lawyer. He knows how to look me up on the California bar page (if he's smart that is.)

Anyway, I hope the dude from L.A. looking for a date on Craigslist found someone lovely and didn't have to bring one of those fat girls just to have some company. (By the way, Moz can work on his abs.)

One question, were motorists really charged $20 each to park? Or was that purported fee waived? The reason I ask is because there was plenty of free parking outside the perimeter of the arena, so I have a hard time believing people really paid $20 a pop.

This post is just too hilarious..
You're totally going to Morrissey's concert for the wrong reasons.
Don't worry about other people, worry about yourself.
Looks like you need to work on that.

Does anyone remember the exact quote that was something like this: "When you're in bed, with your hands under the covers, think of me."

It was something to the affect of "Tonight, when your at home, safe in your bed with both of your hands under the covers... think of me."

You said it, Sista.

I've seen him 15+ times since 1991 and I was basically done in 1999.
I've been a fan since 1987. The shows seems uninspired, the set lists are worse.
Nutshell it: Saw him in '97 a bunch of times and I loved those shows. Really loved them. My best memories after 1991 tour (and I saw 4 on '92 tour in nj/NY) are from '97.
Anyway, the guy next to me in New Brunswick, NJ '97 (or was it Hammerstein) said he was a parody of
himself. I didn't believe it at the time, but now I do.

What he could do with those setlists today. But in my opinion, he's not playing for his original fan base. He's thrown us away for greener pastures. But you know what? I expect to be disappointed from him...thats sad.

Morrissey sounded wonderful, the band was fantastic, but man that setlist if pretty so-so. Let's be honest, there are several momentum killers in that set that don't need to be there. "You're The One For Me Fatty" was album filler. Why is that song in a set in 2012? Scandanavia? "People Are The Same Everywhere" Yawn.

This man, and this band, could have blown the roof off that place last night with a killer setlist. Instead, I could almost literally see the air go out of almost the entire section that I was in about half way through. Then he would light into another great song (I didn't say classic, I said great....I'm not interested in Morrissey's greatest hits either) get the crowd going again, then follow that up with another poor choice and lose them again. It's odd.

When you're only going to play for an hour and twenty minutes, I think the fans deserve a kick ass setlist at least. We didn't get that. Too bad.

I will say again though, that Morrissey's voice sounded excellent and we all know his band kicks ass.

Videos of san diego, may 22nd show.

Hey guys, I hope this works. I've received a lot from this site in the past and would like to contribute what little I can.

I recorded mainly for the banter in between songs so some of the songs are cut short. Morrissey and the crew were TIGHT last night. The drums were AMAZING, especially at the end of HSIN. The crowd was FULL of energy and it reflected in Morrissey's performance. He seemed happy - he even laughed a few times :) There was a dude next to me acting suspicious, then he disappeared, and then appeared on stage about 30 seconds later. What? LOL! Gotta love my fellow, devoted fans. There where people dancing and having a great time with no care in the world except for the music, their partner, and the beer in their hand. The atmosphere was, IMO, 100% better than in places like LA where it is full of greasers. Sorry, but it is. The parking lot before and after the show was alive with music from the Smiths and solo years.

These are great! Thank you!

Wow! Awesome documenting! Thank you so much.

I had an aisle seat with the aisle between me and the stage and all during the show people were clamoring to stand backwards on the steps, sometimes groups as large as four or five, and have people take a group photo of the stage in the background, right during emotional songs and touching moments, it went on all night. The concert experience has changed dramatically in the last three years, this intensity to capture a moment on facebook and share to the world. I guess I do it too to an extent, but when 5,000 people are videoing and snapping away all at once it's frustrating. (And since we're on the topic I saw Paul F Thompkins a the Largo the other night and they have a strict no cellphone camera or ANY camera policy to allow the people on stage to feel more free to let loose or whatever knowing that nothing is permanently recorded. It was amazingly refreshing to be in a room with no technology and people just having a good time without worrying about documenting the moment.)

I have a question since you were obviously close. The night was a blur, but was there a song, maybe not please, that he did get kind of choked up at a lyric? I sort of recall that.

I think there is a time and a place for photographs ... I just don't think it's at a show.

I think it's disruptive and downright rude to the artist who would rather be looking into the eyes and faces of his audience and fans rather than the back of everyone's smart phones. It's definitely rude to the concert goers around you who paid just as much money if not more than you to see an artist live on stage, not with an obstructed view through the arms and glare of the camera-phone-holding guy in front of you. I understand your point of wanting to capture the moment with friends and such but if one exception is made then the whole thing falls apart. I think a strict no cellphone camera policy should be enforced at ALL live shows. Period. To your point I think it must be extremely refreshing for an artist to feel connected with his/her audience the way it used to be in the olden days with no cameras, no recording equipment, no distractions. Ahhh the olden days ...

To answer your question CG, I don't recall his getting choked up during any of the performances. Not that a little mistiness wouldn't have been warranted of course ... I just think he was in especially good spirits. I was about 4 rows deep Boz side until the encore for which I retreated to safer cover. It's a lot more fun (and injury free) to watch the mayhem from afar. :)

I wasn't at the show. When you post anonymously there is a time delay before it appears in the thread, due to moderator approval, therefore posts by logged-in members appear before yours, and when your post does show up it's further back in the thread. Don't take it personally, and thanks for the info :thumb:

Thank you for explaining Morrizsey ... I haven't posted in quite some time and wasn't aware of the delay for anonymous posts. I didn't mean to sound curt in my reply to your post.

That'll teach him to get a decent haircut.

no that was really rude though he armed Morrissey stiff, pulling his hair was
not a way to treat a fan who sees his chance like anyone would, and get
treated like this

btw, must every male Morrissey gig go'er have short hair and a quiff?

Just seen the vid thank you for sharing. Did the long hair twat access from back stage? He could of really hurt Moz, very dangerous. Nice to see security used him as a rag doll lol

Long haired bastard

just decides to be himself and dress like he wants

Not necessarily. But it might have been nice if he'd washed it since Christmas, bit of conditioner maybe. Or even troubled it with a comb this month would've been nice.
