Illegality depends on the context? A court and a good lawyer could argue that he was in a position of trust. In any case, considering he is alleged to have groomed her, whether she was 16 or not, he is still committing alleged crimes.

She also is convinced that Damien Echols is guilty despite the fact that every sane person knows that he isn't and that only small town southern hicks could ever possibly think he is. She 'worked' on that case too. And by 'worked', she means she had some online discussions at a forum dedicated to the case.
