im interested in certain magazines who once were published in the early 80ties(one based in manchester, the other one either in manchester or in london) but are long defunct. only had few issues published back then.
also it would go under the file "special interest" so its not that common find
i wonder since i watched ebay since i registered and it never turn up, and I also did go through the internet(googled it , searched)is there a place where old magazines are stored and people can look them up?some national Uk magazine archive?the libraries?
Or do they just disapeared and there is no chance to get a hold on them again?

In London two shops sell old magazines.
One is Vinyl Exchange in Notting Hill and other is on the corner of Old Windmill St and Berwick St near Piccadilly Circus.

I have no idea about British Library, very hard to get in.
You have to make an appointment in advance to get in to read some books in there.

Film related publications in UK you can go to BFI Library, but it does not keep music magazines.

Do you have any ideas as to what they were called or are you just looking without knowing what was out there?

I'm not sure about LGTB center, but good idea to ask them.
You can also write to Pink Paper or some other gay related periodical publications.
They might help you to find publications you're looking for.

Good luck. :)

abebooks.com is a searchable database for sellers of old journals
I have bought a lot of socialist journals from the Uk via the sellers on there.

I would suggest reading the bibliography of Lucy Robinson's "Gay men and The Left in Post-War Britain", Manchester Uni Press, 2007, for details on which archives hold this kind of material.
