Morrissey Central "Release" - Bonfire release details (October 29, 2022)

As posted on Morrissey central

Capitol Records (Los Angeles) will release Morrissey’s ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ in February 2023. The album will be released worldwide except for the United Kingdom, where there is no label deal. ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ is produced by Grammy-producer Andrew Watt, and was recorded in Los Angeles. The musicians on the album are Jesse Tobias, Andrew Watt, Josh Klinghoffer (ex-Chili Peppers), and Chad Smith and Flea (both of the Chili Peppers). The album features Miley Cyrus and Iggy Pop on additional vocals. The eleven tracks are: I Am Veronica, Rebels Without Applause, Kerouac’s Crack, Ha Ha Harlem, I Live in Oblivion, Bonfire of Teenagers, My Funeral, Diana Dors, I Ex-love You, Sure Enough The Telephone Rings, Saint In a Stained Glass Window. Album art is by Liam Lynch. Capitol Records (Los Angeles) has also licensed the rights to re-release Morrissey’s albums ‘Southpaw Grammar’, ‘You Are The Quarry’, ‘Ringleader of the Tormentors’, ‘Years of Refusal’ and ‘World Peace is None of Your Business’, and these will be available in deluxe vinyl/LP formats. As with ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’, the albums will be issued worldwide except for the United Kingdom until a UK label steps in. Morrissey is managed by Maverick/Quest in Los Angeles.

Morrissey’s next concert is at the Toyota Arena, Ontario, California on November 11.

Without rehashing the Harvest saga, here's a sample comment from July 29, 2015:

"However, what has caused this sudden new life form? Why are we back in the glory days of 1991/92? Why now? I rashly imagine it is partly public support in response to World peace is none of your business being axed in its prime by Steve Barnett - that cheap model of Humpty Dumpty whose Harvest/Capitol label can offer the world absolutely nothing in place of World peace is none of your business. I believe that his actions have enraged many people throughout the world, and the fact that he still has a job indicates the hellward march of a music industry that will never allow itself to be surprised by anything that is not endorsed by television 'talent' shows (none of which have yet produced one single lasting or meaningful star). However, he is now unworthy of further mention. He lives inside his own skin, which is surely punishment enough."

FWD.

What do you mean? Does your cd not sound good?
No, I mean poor package . Poor cardboard sleeve , no booklet , just a page with blurred lyrics that can be seen with a magnifying glass. It looked like a supplement to the daily newspaper.
It's just a details . But I believe it will be better now .

So do I. I think that everyone present here is also very happy, because the uncertainty was unbearable.

Something to look forward to in early 2023 then. Wonderful.
But release does not include UK, is that because the Bonfire song is too sensitive there? But if that were the case, UK should at least get the rue-issues of the earlier albums.
Finally, do we know which song features Iggy on vocals?

Who would have guessed that one day Morrissey would essentially record an album with the Red Hot Chili Peppers!? Anyway, this is great great news. Has it ever been confirmed which track Iggy Pop appears on?

Congrats, Moz :flowers::love:
If UK people can't get it when it's released, maybe we can figure out something here

Brilliant news!

I’m sure it will get a u.k release - has anybody ever heard of an album being released everywhere except the u.k/the artists homeland? - but whatever, it’s being released; that’s all that matters.

Very glad to hear that the reissues are finally coming, too. I’ve long regretted returning my vinyl copy of Southpaw - the one with the booklet of naff pics of Moz with fake cute & bruises, trying to look hard - the day after buying it in 1995. I’ll happily buy that, Quarry, & Ringleaders….then I’ll only be missing Maladjusted on vinyl; why isn’t this being reissued, I wonder?

I only wish he’d leave the cover art & track listings alone. I wonder what the deluxe editions might add?

Also, I was really looking forward to the Live at the Hollywood Bowl album that was supposed to come out a few years ago. That’s a great show & I really hope we see it some day.

Main thing is: Bonfire of Teenagers is being released! I can’t wait to hear the studio versions of the songs he’s already debuted live, & if the rest of the album is as strong as the half we’ve heard then this could be his best album in years.

And hopefully, he’ll return to tour the u.k again & this time I don’t be too ill to attend.

I knew... Moz is an artist of the ostia!!!! An icon like that can not have less. In Argentina is playing Coldplay 10 recitals in full ten stadiums of River Plate full breaking records in my country, they C Martin I like but I do not go and does not compare with the talent of Moz.Se have become popular in my country the Coldplay. I would not like Moz to become popular in that way, Moz is not for anyone I prefer it that way. Happy because two of my favorite singers are with new albums!!!!! Viva MORRISEY and BOT!!!! MOZZUCHISS!! ESAAAA 👋 🇦🇷 🇦🇷 👋 👋 👋 ❤️❤️

Great news. My only slight concern is the fact that historically Morrissey has fallen out with nearly every record company he's ever worked with, so I'm crossing my fingers we get at least a couple of new albums before the relationship crashes and burns. :paranoid:

I think it's Ha Ha Harlem, although I can't remember where I read this.
Morrissey UK album sales usually account for about a third of all worldwide sales.

Worth noting that Morrissey's fanbase has diminished a lot more in the UK than it has elsewhere in recent years (due to the toxic stories about him repeatedly appearing in the mainstream UK media - overseas, they were only ever reported on specialist music sites), so in some respects it's not surprising he could find better conditions for a non-UK release.
Regardless, it's good news that it's coming out. Let's hope the follow-up (with a few Whyte/Morrissey songs) is out fairly soon after.

Great news.

Album art by Liam Lynch, does anyone know if he put together the original artwork we have seen or could it be something new?
Liam Lynch sounds familiar. I seem to remember seeing his name on a Morrissey record. Greatest Hits?

There are a heap of European suppliers (Amazon included) that can deliver safely to the UK without ridiculous postage.
Regards,
FWD.
I'm not in the UK but you're right, Amazon DE or elsewhere in Europe can deliver. I'm just used to free delivery from Amazon UK but have ordered from mainland Europe and US too. The main thing is there's gonna be a new album and reissues. I couldn't believe the headline on Moz Solo. Such great news.
