Morrissey Central "Release" - Bonfire release details (October 29, 2022)

As posted on Morrissey central

Capitol Records (Los Angeles) will release Morrissey’s ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ in February 2023. The album will be released worldwide except for the United Kingdom, where there is no label deal. ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’ is produced by Grammy-producer Andrew Watt, and was recorded in Los Angeles. The musicians on the album are Jesse Tobias, Andrew Watt, Josh Klinghoffer (ex-Chili Peppers), and Chad Smith and Flea (both of the Chili Peppers). The album features Miley Cyrus and Iggy Pop on additional vocals. The eleven tracks are: I Am Veronica, Rebels Without Applause, Kerouac’s Crack, Ha Ha Harlem, I Live in Oblivion, Bonfire of Teenagers, My Funeral, Diana Dors, I Ex-love You, Sure Enough The Telephone Rings, Saint In a Stained Glass Window. Album art is by Liam Lynch. Capitol Records (Los Angeles) has also licensed the rights to re-release Morrissey’s albums ‘Southpaw Grammar’, ‘You Are The Quarry’, ‘Ringleader of the Tormentors’, ‘Years of Refusal’ and ‘World Peace is None of Your Business’, and these will be available in deluxe vinyl/LP formats. As with ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’, the albums will be issued worldwide except for the United Kingdom until a UK label steps in. Morrissey is managed by Maverick/Quest in Los Angeles.

Morrissey’s next concert is at the Toyota Arena, Ontario, California on November 11.

I hope the CD release will not be as poor as the Dog album on CD.

The UK must surely be his biggest market? So isn’t he shooting himself in the foot? Anyone with a passing interest will just download it and then not bother buying the official uk release if/when it becomes available.
Might just wait till the official release date is confirmed then book a flight to Dublin, stock up and fly back home again
I think M is now bigger in US, particularly California.

Also, a surprise that Gustavo Manzur is not on the album - I assumed he would have written some of the music - perhaps it's a similar situation to that of Alain Whyte with 'Years of Refusal', where Alain composed some of the music, but was not on the album (although Alain then left the band for 12 years). Does anyone know who wrote the music - it would be interesting to know?

I think the 6 songs from BoT performed live in Vegas and the UK have been superb, so I'm delighted that the release has been confirmed!

Together we are something we can never be apart.
This warms my soul. Congratulations M for holding out for what you deserve... the best. I only hope they can negotiate a UK release very soon so it all happens around the same time as it will likely wreck British sales otherwise. Although I will, of course, be purchasing it. So happy despite the UK issues! 😁💜

Don’t quite understand how it can be global ex UK, unless deliberate to make a point
Ireland isn't part of the UK so I wonder if they'll be released here. Probably wishful thinking. I'd be very disappointed if Moz lumped Ireland in with the UK.

When he announced the tour I'm pretty sure he labelled it as a UK tour despite it having a date in Ireland, so you can never be too sure.

Yay! Can't believe we'll also get deluxe reissues of all those albums too.
I am sure a UK label will step up.
Surely?
I'd prefer reissues that match exactly the originals with same cover and same songs. And not like Viva Hate which removed Ordinary Boys in favour of less worthy new additions.

I don’t think it will be on iTunes or Spotify. I think we would have to change our region to buy it.
I think it’s likely that it’ll be available on streaming in all countries (or at least I’m hoping it will be). Anything can happen between now and February, so who knows about the UK situation.

Judging by the original announcements, at the very least the covers are going to be different (and worse). And iirc the Southpaw tracklisting was the same as rhe 2009 version, but the Quarry one was the same as the original.

When were these pictures taken?
He looks great . Also , when is the actual date?
Its pathetic not to release in UK, just means when it is released, it will be almost pointless
As most will have from USA

Now you’ll get to hear it :thumb:

"Licensed" is the operative term here.
The Harvest/Capitol "2 record deal", standing on top of the Capitol Records building with Pammy etc and the subsequent furore appears to have given way to a licensing deal to make money from reissuing vinyl - which is still a money maker & makes sense from Capitol's POV as they're not beholden. He clearly owns the rights to the albums cited and there will be a demand - win, win.
FWD.

(Trying to tell people getting in to anxiety states re: sourcing products or the new album not to worry will be pointless, but I'm certainly not losing any sleep about it).
