Don''t know what I was expecting, but he sings it beautifully.

Didn't he play "Jack, the ripper" years ago?

      No, My Chemical Romance did.

      I stand corrected.
For some reason I couldn't find RCHP cover version story from archive.

I'm shocked that Kiedis would allow this, because it only serves to show what a flat, tuneless, tone-deaf turd he is.
(I just may think the silly peckers are one of the absolute worst bands on Earth.)

They also did That Joke in 2015 or 2016

Reckon Josh likes Uncle Steve. Reckon the RHCP don't.

They probably just had a copy of Hatful of Hollow laying around for when they wanted to "bang sensitive chicks" back in the 80's.
Empty, tuneless jock rock. "Shabba dabba dooby california smoke a pot and watch-a some-a porn-a." They can go ahead and use that one on their next record. I won't even charge them, because I'm a nice guy.

You are incorrect. This guitar part is amazing and I can't find any jock rockiness about any part of this song. I understand you're probably not gonna listen to it but a very wrong assessment

I'm familiar with it. I'd rather stick a hot knitting needle in my urethra than listen. I don't doubt that the guitar is proficient, or even pretty- but add Anthony Kiedis, and it turns to garbage.

He's not the greatest singer sure but the lyrics are also not at all how you described them above. That's only one side to the band

I always loved Nick Cave's quote: “I’m forever near a stereo saying, ‘What the fuck is this garbage?’ And the answer is always the Red Hot Chili Peppers.”

Josh has long been a Morrissey/Smiths fan. When he was in The Bicycle Thief in the late 90’s or early 2000’s, I saw him do a solo rendition of That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore at the Dragonfly in LA.

If you flip over a turd, it's still a turd on the other side.

Ya. He's a big fam of The Smiths and solo Morrissey.
He also cited Marr as one of his influences in his guitar playing.

Here's his cover if That Joke...

That's not an easy song to play. And. I'll say it again - he's a terrific, plangent singer.
