I don't know if the journalist made it up or Morrissey was messing about, but the facts don't add up. He also said Johnny Depp is his neighbor, but Depp lives in France.

Mind you, I know these things because I did go looking for a Gable messageboard, which I found to be peppered with Morrissey fans trying to find this house.

At the time of the published article Depp was his neighbor, he's since moved to france because he 'feels it's a better environment to rasie children in.' Or at least that's what he (Depp) said in his interviews.

As for the Morrissey Gable inconsistencies. I think it's just a case of someone (who most likely wasn't an obesssive Gable fan) stating that information as fact to him (Morrissey), and he took it as truth, then passing it on in the interview (because to the best of his knowledge it was).

Of course this is all just my hypothesis on what happened though.
