Ray Davies

dallow_bg

the one he left behind
Saw my hero last night.

He opened with "I'm Not Like Everybody Else"... which was my highlight.
Saddened he didn't do "Waterloo Sunset", but that's alright, he can do what he wants.

I think I was one of 3 non-white people there, and one of the few below the age of 35. Most seemed to be fans, others just drunken girlfriends wanting to dance and be obnoxious.

Still, it was unbelievable seeing him.

I rarely go to concerts but I had to be here.
Now I regret missing two shows (Brian Wilson & Mark E. Smith), but am looking forward to my next one in October (Pet Shop Boys).

Mark E Smith - I would love too see Him / f***ing great He is in the Fall

Ray Davies I love Him too - I've seen the Kinks once - Fab concert

U have a great taste in music - Very Cool

You're going to see PSB? I hate you.

Anyway, glad you enjoyed the gig. I've yet to get Davies' new album, but the single seemed quite good. Another one about the internet didn't, though. It seemed like he was trying to hard to be modern. Is the album good?

Ray Davis is another example of a name you hear and hear all over again, but just don't know any music. I'll - finally - try to find some songs of his.

You do realize he was co-founder of The Kinks don't you?

The recent solo album he released is actually his first real solo album.

Buy some Kinks albums and see why they're the most underrated (and best) British band of the 60s and early 70s.

Beatles who???.

You do realize He could have figured that out by reading the answer after you started the thread - I've mentioned the Kinks and what a fab concert I once saw. So people read the threads from beginning / but wolve don't know the band kinks or else He wouldn't have said what He said and finally wanting some songs from Ray
Man there songs from the past 40 years so Get a grip = the Kinks 1964

Ray Davies :

1985 Return To Waterloo
1998 Storyteller

You do that - They (the songs) some of them existed for over 40 years

So it should be possible :)

Wow, so many posts Maid@!

It's just strange to me for anyone to mention Ray Davies as being one of those names you hear.
It's as if someone someone said John Lennon is one of those names you hear all the time but don't know his music, hehe.

As far as those other two Ray Davies CDs, well, they weren't proper albums.

The album is pretty strong actually. It doesn't grab you by the throat or anything but it does have some quite nice messages in it, as well as Ray's famous wit and humor.

And yes, I knew you'd be jealous about the PSB, hehe. :)

Yeah many post with some cool  facts or what

Did You know about the Days Cover (Kirsty M) ?

Kirsty worked with a lot of artits

Billy Bragg
Shane MacGowan / the Pogues
J. Marr

etc ...

She sure was a great artits (R.I.P.)

But Ray Davies is also a fine artits and one of the best ever written from Him is actually Days :

Thank you for the days
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me
I'm thinking of the days
I won't forget a single day believe me

I bless the light
I bless the light that lights on you believe me
And though you're gone
You're with me every single day believe me

Days I'll remember all my life
Days when you can't see wrong from right
You took my life
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me
But it's alright
Now I'm not frightened of this world believe me

I wish today could be tomorrow
The night is long
It just brings sorrow let it wait

Thank you for the days
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me
I'm thinking of the days
I won't forget a single day believe me

Days I'll remember all my life
Days when you can't see wrong from right
You took my life
But then I knew that very soon you'd leave me
But it's alright
Now I'm not frightened of this world believe me

Days

Thank you for the days
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me
I'm thinking of the days
I won't forget a single day believe me

I bless the light
I bless the light that lights on you believe me
And though you're gone
You're with me every single day believe me

Days

Now that is some hell of poetry even when You imaging Kirsty sings it and know she's gone

I think her version (1989) is so great even now - Hear it and read the words - Shame she passed away

Ah yes, hehe, you must really like that song.
And for good reason, Days is just wonderful.

I haven't heard Kirsty's version, but I have heard her version of Billy Bragg's A New England, and I didn't like it.

Yeah love the song also when it is the original one. But I do think it is a shame that she passed away on a holiday trip - I think she was amazing.

Billy Bragg oh yes good artits - Have You heard He's version of She's leaving Home by the Beatles

or

Try another by Kirsty instead :

Days

or

Miss Otis Regrets

or

Fairytale of New York

And still Ray Davies is also good
