I have had Saint on replay a lot. Amazing vocals and instruments, though I do feel that the lyrics leave a bit to be desired and hold it back from being a truly great song.
1. Bonfire Of Teenagers 10
2. I Am Veronica 9
3. Rebels Without Applause 8
4. Sure Enough, The Telephone Rings 7
5. I Live In Oblivion 7
Those are all among his best ever songs. I don't mind at all that he treads over the same old ground as long as the songs are good.I like "Saint..." but I can't love it. It just feels too familiar - very much in the same vein as Quarry-era weepies like Friday Mourning, Never-Played Symphonies etc. A nice vocal melody but it just sounds like a ton of other Morrissey songs, repeating the same themes over and over. He's done this before and so much better with "Lost", "Pigsty", "Seasick, Yet Still Docked", "Maudlin Street", etc.
