Quarry Censored?

Does anyone's Quarry CD show him actually holding the machine gun on the cover with the CD's title present? Mine does not. It is a cropped version of his head only. I have to open the CD, take out the lyrics booklet and look on the back flap to see the image of the gun. In all the promos, it's the cover. Thoughts?

Mine has the full image, complete with the gun. Where did you get yours?

Are all of his "Shit's" still in the songs?

Fry's Electronics. Normally I would buy in my local CD shop, but I was there and I saw it, and of course eager to have it ASAP. Now I am compelled to get one in its original format. I wonder how many other retailers/distributors have decided to censor the artwork for our protection. Is this 1955 or am I just in Texas (the gun capital of the world, BTW).

Good question. Yes, another listen of "How Could Anybody Know How I Feel" reveals all shits in place. But, I have noticed many errors in the lyric booklet.

Why do you assume it's
censored?

Maybe it's just an alternate
design to look good with a
jewel case?

I happen to like the jewel case
version more. Still has the
gun pic inside. Music is the
same. Better container.

The question was if others had the CD jewel case with the gun featured on the front. Mine does not. If others do, then that means there are two different designs for the same jewel case, one a clear photo crop of the other.

every other country that released/releasing YATQ in jewel case format will have the gun image on the front. the US apparently has a 'friendlier' cover. i wonder if morrissey decided on that, making his releases more collectable with variations?

Actually, here in Australia the image is also cropped. It's a shame really, because it makes the cover rather bland.

Aw man, you bought the "Censored Version". I saw on Circuit City's website (to see what versions of YATQ they were selling) that there is a non-explicit version (the cropped picture w/out the gun), the regular version w/out DVD, and the limited edition version w/DVD. Both the regular and limited versions have the whole uncropped picture.

I also think its weird that all the "shits" are in the songs since Circuit City was selling that one as the "non-explicit" version.

So there are multiple versions... Thanks all for helping dig this up. I agree that the version without the machine gun is entirely uninteresting campared to the dramatic original shot with arms in hand. Then again, Maladjusted was no gem of a cover, either.
