Agreed, it just has Morrissey's name on it to drive traffic here. It's outrageous that Sharon and Baz get away with the things they do. I have been on privately owned forums before and there is no way that filth would be allowed.

I have been giving some thought to the conversations about the site, etc.
Are there really any bigger trolls on this site than David or the moderators?
Isn't it just one giant troll to Morrissey to own and maintain a site he hates, that is about him?
Internet trolls are by definition those who want to provoke or upset others for their own amusement.
I think Morrissey and his band wearing the f*** Solo shirts pretty much say how he feels about this and it would be fair to conclude this site provokes and upsets him, and those in charge are probably amused by it or don't care how he feels about his name being used. Or both.
I am not saying this to put anyone down, but I have been wondering how this site can be seen as a positive thing and how Morrissey must feel, knowing of it's existence, every day.
I read some old thread, some as new as a year ago, where posters are saying this is a cesspool that was once a good and fun place, but it changed and trolls took over and people left. I don't even see those posters from a year ago anymore. Was there a point at which this place should have ceased to exist?
How long should you have a site with someone's name on it when you know they don't want you to?

Does it set the tone here?

If it helps i don't get a sense of sadness from you. You come off as more officious than anything .

I can easily see how - if you're introverted and you find people exhausting - you can end up bitter and isolated and I am terrified it will happen to me.

I think the fact that you are aware of this will prevent it. You'll see it coming. You'll be on your guard. You'll put up a fight.
Also, between being isolated and surrounded by people who suck up to ya all day long and fair weather friends, I know what I'd pick, don't you? So it's just bitterness you've got to be wary of, I think. And there are lots of ways to slow the bitterness down.

Like a change of scenery.

Look at me for instance: I have one week left in a place full of millionaires' villas and one thing that makes me smile is that the place mostly smells of dog wee-wee. And the millionaires get to smell that just like me ( unless they have a P.A. spraying perfume before them everywhere they go.)
If they go into the sea (which they don't do) they risk a jellyfish encounter as much as I do.
And no matter how much A/C they've got on, this week they'll feel the heat at some point too.

So there's no reason to be bitter. We're really all the same, just part of Nature. ( How is the land conservation plan going, Damon?) You can invent yourself a persona, you can be a shitty human being or go through the experience on earth doing the best you can to do something good or at least cause minimal damage. You can also see the funny side. Like maybe in moments of clarity Morrissey sees the utterly ridiculous and tragically pointless side of fame.
In all these states and emotions we're going through, there's simply no time to get bitter.

well i used to post at a serial killer site (that boasted actual killers, wannabe killers, groupies, and wives of killers) so ive seen a lot worse. a LOT worse. and it didnt all stay online either.

it's unfortunate that sharon and baz carry on the way they do but it's not really david or the moderators fault that they are gross and vile. i do think sharon should be banned but only for the good of this board because she acts like this place is her own private mental health session and i think it turns decent posters away. it would be hypocritical of me to say that she should be banned because something she said crossed the line, because ive said things that some might see as crossing a line too. i'd rather have freedom of speech than never read anything offensive.

as for morrissey not liking this site, well, i dont know that it matters whether he likes it or not. i dont know that he has any good reason for objecting to it's existence, frankly. and im certainly not going to object to it's existence on behalf of morrissey while at the same time continuing to post here because, again, that would be quite hypocritical of me.

im not depressed. nobody thinks that except light housework. i think she just wanted me to be depressed and to have to go on medical and quit my job, so as to make her feel more normal about the way her life has gone.

I don't know what you consider crossing a line regarding Sharon, but I do think the presence of both her and Baz hurt this site. I am going to say Surface too because I saw loads of complaints about him in the moderation thread, all of which went unanswered. I am not sure what the deal is with him but people were complaining he has loads of alts and causes a lot of trouble. I am a huge proponent of free speech, but even free speech has it's limits. I don't know what people get banned for, or put on time outs for here and I am not asking, but there are obviously lines that are crossed that the moderators find unacceptable - so we don't exactly have free speech here. I think there is a huge difference between something you just don't want to see, and violent rape pornography.

I think it does really matter if Morrissey likes this site or not. His name is on it. How can he not see it as just another place where haters use his name to make money. That hardly seems fair. This site isn't even about being a fan, he is bashed all the time here. I have been on other music fan sites and they are not full of negativity, like this one is. I understand the party line here is it's not just for fans, but anything about Morrissey. I can't think of anyone who would be ok with this.

Your last point is one I have been pondering - should fans post here? It's not a fan site. For a long time, I thought it was. Getting into more these past few months than I ever had before, I can see it's definitely not. You get more shit for dissing Johnny Marr than you do Morrissey, but those people won't go and make their own Marr fan site. But if all the Morrissey fans leave, that just leaves the haters and it will just be a complete total hate site about Morrissey.

I think I object to it's existence in it's current form, it can be a lot better and was at one time. Something that started out with good intentions just went really wrong, I think it should be fixed.

Also: the least you can do, if you live a rich, selfish lifestyle, using resources that countless others are deprived of , is to share what's not yours anyway with others.

For instance, in times of drought, which are going to be more and more frequent in many places, if you fill a swimming pool, you should really have a pool for birdies as well. And water for the animals that visit your garden (if they're not all extinct).

There you go Morrissey, I've found you an occupation: check all the expensive hotels and restaurants in the L.A area to see if they do that, and if not, pester them ( write a letter).

And free bowls of fresh water. ( and not Plastic water.)

well, every site always seems to have had some past hay day that will never come again. it may be a reflection of a lot of things but i dont know if it's anything that can be control or manufactured. and again, every site is only going to be as good as it's members.

and also, at the end of the day it's just an internet forum.
