During the Chritsmas holiday my mother showed me a copy she'd been sent of an old photo of herself in 1958 stood outside her home which was rented from an aunt. The house has a name; the sign says "Strangeways". Apparently the story is that when the bungalow was built some relatives trying to find it said that they had come a strange way to find the place, and being aware of the prison, the aunt and uncle named the place "Strangeways".
