Paying for sex

Wrong. From personal experience, a lot find it an easy way to make money and regard it as much like a job as I do with mine. Some days are interesting, some aren't. Most men would stay WELL clear of the pimp controlled workers and go for independants - who actually want to do what they're doing.

No one WANTS to be a prostitute.

No one WANTS to be a prostitute.

Nonsense. I've read many articles on the 'industry' and seen quite a few documentaries and positions at top brothels, like say the Bunny Ranch in Nevada, have waiting lists made of of hundreds of girls who are fighting for the position. When interviewed, they are realistic about their job, but they do it because it's something they love. They love sex, they get paid a shit load of money to have sex, plus bonuses, plus gifts, free meals, drinks, even houses or cars from top clients.

It would be more fair to say 'some girls don't want to become prostitutes', because a fair amount of them are there because they want to be.

What a romantic outlook on life.

Romance has nothing to do with it. Being able to look at life realistically has everything to do with it.

The definition of the word prostitute, is one who sells themselves for sexual purpouses. Whether that be a meal, a trip to the Carribean or a wad of cash, it's all the same.

so, i wonder, 'are you single"?

What does that have to do with anything?

Did you want to know so you could turn it into a "lol, u can't get a date, so you are bitter' accusation? That's usually why people ask that, as they've run out of or simply have nothing else to say but the cliche accusations of loneliness and bitterness.

okay 'morrissey'

but your idea that women go to bed with a man because they have had a meal or a holiday bought for them is slightly sexist.

But if that is your thinking your welcome to it.

No, it's not. Sexism relies on the fact that I discriminate against or hate the group of people I am referring to, which I am not. Many women will gladly trade sexual favours for expensive trips, jewelry or trinkets, as will some men.

Many people prostitute themselves out on a daily basis, so I see no problem with simply offering the money upfront in place of the gift, trip or meal. It's the same thing.

Your cheery disposition is something we all should strive for.

Moreover, that's what all parents want their daughters to become when they grow up!

If I have girls, I hope they choose to be prostitutes :)

I wish you'd give your real opinion on this- who knows, it might be worth hearing.

So you think because I'm realistic about things in the world and don't sugar coat it that I've got to be a bitter and horrible person who sees the world as a bad place where everyone is out to get you, right?

You are the prime example of the person I was talking about with that sarcastic post. If you dare say something unpopular then of course you are attacked on a personal level. It's just how it goes. People would not rather try and refute your claims, but rather just dismiss it as nonsense due to the fact you are 'put cliche, stereotype or label here'. It's much, much easier! :)

The fact you have none is telling. No decent mother would wish that.I doubt even a whore wishes their offspring to take on the family trade.

Ok, the "Wrong" part was a response to the person I was disagreeing with because he/she made the same sweeping statement, but it's not actually true that nobody WANTS to be a prostitute. As I said before, there are those that want to do what they do because they find it easy and make shitloads from it (and are quite up front about it).

Oh, and LOVE the avatar, Arsenal.

But you know how sex workers love their job and they find it empowering and liberating? Why wouldn't they wish the same for their daughters?

Umm... no, it would be boring

People seem to have the impression that a prostitute is a girl on a street corner, dressed in rags, shivering from the cold and only there because she's been beaten or abused and now is just a victim of the horrid, male hierarchy once again!

They fail to realize that this is 2008, and we have brothels, escorts, personal ad's and 'cat houses' where the women who work there must undergo numerous interviews to make sure they A: want the job and B: are emotionally stable, then go through countless tests and exams each month to test for STD's and make sure their overall health is tip top.

These girls WANT the job. As I said previously, the waiting list for girls applying to the Bunny Ranch in Nevada, one of the worlds top brothels, is enormous and is comprised of women from all over the world who WANT to work there.

Sex has been and always will be a business, whether you admit it or not. It just so happens many women (unlike the ones who post here, apparently) see this fact and desire to get in on it and make a shit load of money for something they do already.

And yes, I like my avatar as well. I'm a big fan of his :)

I have to agree with Arsenal on this (love your avatar, btw - I'm a huge Peter Gabriel fan!). For some reason - giving a girl jewelry, ipods, ect. is okay but cold hard cash is unacceptable.

Some other random thoughts:

1. An old boyfriend of mine had a 400+ pound roommate who made a few trips to Vegas every year so he could hire prostitues. It was the only way he could get laid. I'm still trying to figure out how the heck it was even possible with that much fat in the way.

2. Prostitution has always been around and will always be. Legalizing it, making sure those in the profession are healthy and paying taxes would make everybody's life easier.

3. For the record, I LOVE sex. However, I'm very choosy about my partner and could not imagine it having it as a job. Like anything else, it would probably become routine and boring.

Not quite. Normally a date requires a mutual attraction.
