Paul Heaton slags off Morrissey and praises Marr in new song

I've not heard the song but the lyrics are highlighted in the Mojo review of Heaton's new album, 'Manchester Calling'.
Marr is praised for being 'cool'. Profound stuff!

It's nothing to do with that. It's because Heaton sings with a female member of the Beautiful South. It was only the duets (or the songs sung only by women) when the Beautiful South had major success. All the singles sung only by Heaton dived rapidly out of the chart, a bit like Morrissey's, and he never had the cult appeal of Morrissey as a solo act. But Heaton is a arguably more impressive songwriter as he writes the music as well.
But if Heaton spoke out on immigration, for example, his tickets wouldn't sell as well as they do. If artists air views that are somehow 'incorrect' they get tainted by those who think like frightened sheep.

Diversity of opinion scares certain people. They prefer their singers, actors etc to stay 'on-script' and remain bland and danger-free.

To rebelliously stray from these boundaries may gain you some fans but lose others.

A 'bigger deal' is made of (any even remotely) controversial comments nowadays. The media is way more 'hysterical' in any gossip it can grab and this is reflected on social media where stressed and over-caffeinated people love venting off their frustrations of the day - braying for their next victim who has broken some taboo or 'woke' rule.

But Morrissey knows all of this. He just does what he does.

Skinny , Moz did has not sold out Leeds?o_O
Skinny Leeds is almost a month off.
maybe time to have you and your multiple personalities picked up and taken to the asylum.:mask:
not good when you dont know what time it is or what flavor your kool aid is.

The Housemartins were good, the Beautiful South started well but tailed off badly and the stuff he is doing now is parody at best.

I suppose he is a bit of a hero to those of the working classes who don't care too deeply about music but he is about as far removed from them politically as it is possible to be.

Imagine being a well established songwriter in the twilight years of their career, and lowering themselves to putting out a dis track about one of their musical contemporaries?
This is completely irredeemable, unless it's a parody with a grime backing track.

Well when Morrissey continually trumpets minor triumphs, and doesn't sell out his Leeds Arena date, I'd say Paul Heaton has the upper hand here. He sells more songs than Morrissey, and he sells more tickets than Morrissey. By any measure you like, he's more popular. So I'd say he has every right to slag off an act he sees as failing and bigoted. Because he's right.

How about f***ing off for good?

he is widely known in the music industry to be a no talent hack who
sucks on:elephant::basketball::basketball:s

where's the song? all this discussion for a song no one has heard? this thread is a wanker parade.

Skinny and all the sad anonymous thats also u .... Heaton is virtually talentless... Limited vocalist ... Duff lyricist ....school boy stuff for people who are still schoolboys ... not an insight in sight ... Artless as it gets... Housemarttins Beautiful South Solo ... Of its time never to last rubbish ...... stuff of no artistic worth and a tosser to boot .. Hugh was the talent

Hugh was the talent? Yere, he's gone onto have an amazingly successful musical career. Don't be soft lad.

Anyway you put it, to claim that either Heaton or BS is bigger, more influential, more popular, more whatever-the-f***, than Moz is beyond ludicrous. Hate Moz all you like, but give him his fair dues. Ask any indie guitar band who’s influenced their sound, and chances are they’ll say The Smiths or Moz. Show the man on the street pictures of Heaton and Moz and the one they’ll fail to recognize is not Moz. Look up who’s sold more records, and it ain’t gonna be Heaton. Contemplate who’s sold out the Hollywood Bowl on several occasions, and, you guessed it: it’s not Heaton. He might have sold out Leeds Arena, and that sure seems odd, but then again a lot can happen on that island of yours.

Get a f***ing grip and stop letting your sicko hatred and delusions get in the way of rational thought.

Heaton could safely walk down the street and nobody would bat an eyelid I reckon.

This thread is f***ing hilarious, Paul Heaton/Jaquie Abott have virtually sold out every date on their UK tour including the whole of the Leeds arena (whereas as Moz can't even sell out 60%) and Castlefield bowl. FFS have some respect that some artists, are at this time, more popular than Morrissey!!
