But there are papers that have more tooth, that I haven't had much experience with. You might ask, at an Opus or DeSerres or Michael's store, what's best for sketching.

This is on the paper in the photo. The pencil and eraser are clear to see too.

More tooth, as opposed to smooth, means more grainy. I prefer smooth because it looks more realistic.

Printer paper isn't archival, because it's not acid free.

For now you can warm up your hand/eye coordination with printer paper. You'll need a sharpener too.
