ORDINARY POEM BY AN ORDINARY MAN FOR THE POET MORRISSEY

Morrissey, one of the greatest poets of any century

i sometimes reckon i'd rather a frontal lobe lobotomy

than be cursed with a brain of such searing primed lyrical monumental pain

for i have sorely realized that to overtly analyze and incessantly scrutinize

entices demons to set up camp in the cranium

yet steven pat ventures into these very camps

looks these terrors up and down with a magnificent frown

and bursts into sublime siren song

seduces them by the flickering firelight

then lies in their araby tents with them all night long

dreaming of an even more malevolent camp to come

then at dawn sneaks away before they ready the cage

back to the studio,then stage

and with lust loathing and rage

sings their praise as they weep for his absence

through this maze of apathy this sage soldiers on gallantly through the storm

gracefully, forcefully, valiantly,i think he's rubbing off on me

this damned elusive Morrissey

This, with a bit of correction in grammar will surely be the forward/introduction/preface to some work in the future. Well done.

Factories, trains, and houses
Playground of my youth
The place that left me mute
I threw back my shoulders...

No more drinks for Damien, he's had more than enough.

Greetings from the bar manager.

In poetry there is no grammar just intensity but the publishers tend to pay people to form new grammar rules as these tend to change every year. The only rule is that there are no rules but grammar fascists still tend to pop up on a regular basis. Shortcomings in life tend to take drastic shapes and forms.

I'm not a fan of this poem, but kudos to the guy who used Morrissey as his Muse and got noticed for it. I bet his heart is fluttering this evening.

Damien can project his voice like nobody I've ever heard.

It's nice to see that the Moz-Damo mutual admiration society is still in effect!

Also: Pretty certain Damien is still my all-time favorite Morrissey support act.

The sets he opened the Quarry shows with that I saw were two of the longest half hours of my life.

I immediately thought of this clip too. I only recently got into Tom Waits and the man is incredible, although isn't this an old quote from someone like Dorothy Parker etc?
