Oklahoma Governor to attend tonight's "Official Carrie Watch Party" in Muskogee.

Muskogee Mayor Hershel McBride called the party "probably the biggest one-night event" in the city's history.

Boyz 2 Men never even came close to selling out the Civic Center!
Expecting a capacity crowd, preparations are now being made for additional accomodation OUTSIDE the Center.

I really had no idea...

Shall I go mingle 'mongst the plebs?

Yes, you should. But ya gotta take pics.

How cool. Are you rooting for Carrie then?

No, I do not think I will be going -- looking at time, it would be too late to procure a seat; and it is much too warm to sit, comfortably, outside.

I suppose that I will instead watch short intervals on television...can't imagine abiding the full two hours.

Despite not having heard her opponent(s), I will be rooting for Carrie.

Is it hot there? It is unusually cold here for late May -- 51F.

I have been following along very loosely. I never really 'watch' TV, but rather have it on in the background while I play on my computer.

It is around 80 degrees at the moment -- there is a mild chance of thunderstorms later, so it could cool down some.

I never watch TV either, except for The Shield, Monk, and a little TV Land/Nick-at-Nite when I am ill or hungover.

Yeah, I used to watch Nick-at-Nite. I love those old Three's Company and Facts of Life episodes.

I just saw footage of Muskogee. Yay!

Lynrd Skynrd is gonna be on later. I wonder if Bo is gonna sing "Sweet Home Alabama?"

Oh lord, I hope not! Would'nt it be great were Carrie to then sing "Okie from Muskogee"?

And Eighty degrees might not seem like much to you, but when your body temperature is elevated w/ stimulants and coupled with the moderate anxiety of being in a crowd setting, it would be difficult to avoid breaking a sweat -- very unbecoming.

I don't like the heat either. That is one reason I moved from Florida back to Ohio. Living in air conditioning for 9 months of the year was the pits.

I don't really like crowds either. I'd rather observe from a quiet distance as well.

i wasn't rooting for her, but i understand that she is the best choice for that contest. she falls in the vein of kelly clarkson and Clay aiken: nice little wholesome kids who sing cheesey ballads very well. anyone who tries and bring a little funk, soul, or rock ends up going down in flames once the competition is over. did anyone know that Fantasia had an album out? i didn't.

Bo Bice wasn't going to cut it. it's OK to sing that stuff karaoke style, but it's another thing to try and convince people that they want to buy an entire album of songs like that when you know that the material is going to be 3rd rate and accompanied by a Jenny Jones house band. once the producers would have been done with him, he would have sounded like he was a lounge lizard.

Who is this Carrie person?
Never heard of her...

Right at this moment Fantasia is the lead story on my AOL welcome screen, pushing her new video and an AOL Sessions set.

I'm still surprised Nadia didn't go all the way this year.

Last season was the first I had dabbled in watching and my fave was the Hawaiian girl. Not because of her singing; I just liked the flower in her hair.

They all are so bad. However, one thing that makes the show fun despite its being the cheesiest show ever put together is that so many people are watching it. There's not many shows left where you feel like the whole country is watching together. **shrug**

that's like being world famous in Poland, right?

i'm not.

of course. Morrissey should try that gimmick for his future album. move the flowers from his back pocket to his hair.

funny thing is that this person i know who takes this show way too seriously said that a showdown between Bo and Carrie would equivilate to the Blue States vs the Red States. I don't know how a southern rocker gets to be a blue state, but i don't make the rules. i just blindly obey.

Hmmm, right.
I don't get it here in Brazil.
But there was a similar program which featured some of the most boring and fake singers I've ever heard...
Thanks for the link.
