I know what you mean, but to me, having spent years listening to the Smiths, it's just unsettling that a few on here espouse the very things that The Smiths were against (or at least appeared to be against). Such an odd combination.
To me there is the reality and the persona. Celebrities are not always what they seem or even what they say they are. Having known some, I will say that what you find out in private can be shocking and completely different from what is projected publicly, so I do take the public personas with a huge grain of salt, realizing I really don't know Morrissey, or anyone in the Smiths, and likely never will. So, life goes on, who knows what they really stand or stood for. It's all an illusion.

The same accusation gets leveled at Morrissey himself from many quarters these days, (and is the reason a large chunk of the old fan base have dropped him) so it's hardly surprising to find fans with similar views.
Yes, it's just shocking hypocrisy on Moz's part isn't it. Writing a song called 'Meat is Murder' as a young man, and then as an older man voicing support for a party that wants to ban religious slaughter in the UK. His younger self must be ashamed of what he has become.

I see Gash is back on the campaign trail.

I was looking for the clip of Candy Darling Morrissey plays before his gigs, but the closest I could get was this one:

Bad for the animals? So...if everyone stopped eating pigs and chickens and cows, those animals would just kinda hang out and live where? This idiotic notion that man should stop eating animals and they would all live happily ever after is so f***ing childish and stupid that only a simpleton could think such a thing.

For someone going on about “stupid and f***ing childish and simpleton thinking,” you seem unaware of basic facts about how animal agriculture works. Those animals are only here because humans are breeding them for their meat. They didn’t willfully wander in from the fields and crawl into the gestation crates. If everyone stopped eating meat, it stands to reason that those animals could just live in the same place where they’re living right now. Admittedly the conditions are pretty bad, and death would probably be a mercy. So it might be best to euthanize them and let the lovers of meat have one last pig-out bacchanal. But we would not be breeding future generations of them to live in the torture grinder.

I never said animals are going to live “happily ever after,” so you’re arguing against someone else on that one. Life in the wild comes with its own hardships and sufferings. My point is that we should not be multiplying those.

And let even more children go to bed hungry. Nothing like a good old fashioned famine so that dumb animals can live wild and be eaten by wolves and other predators, not called "humans."

Guess you still don't get it. Comprende? :ROFLMAO: His 2023 news must really help your anxiety now, share that with your other Boston friends.

Kindly go f*** yourself. It's clear the type of tw@t you are by the way you talk to people. You need to learn how to engage in civil conversation. You're the only one on here who has been like this. You know nothing about me so shut your trap. Sad that you enjoy bullying people. Seek help.

You’re all over the map here, Johnnie. First you’re concerned with where the animals will live, and now you’re concerned with children going to bed hungry. But that’s absurd. Mathematically, it would be far more efficient to feed the hungry on a plant-based diet, because with meat, you’re wasting more water & fuel & protein in your raising & feeding of the animals. The amount of calories you get out of the process is much less than the amount you put in.

Climate change related initiatives, crusades for veganism, and at the other end, proponents for a more carnivore lifestyle all fall to secondary order of priority for discussion when compared to the global need for people in all countries to stop having more children than whatever the number of children is that they can afford to support themselves. Government initiatives should be in the form of prioritizing education on this subject and on providing resources to make this implementible and achievable. Instead, we have initiatives on how to genetically modify food even more, and bills to approve the introduction of bugs into the commercial food supply without a requirement to even disclose. These are not solutions that will take mankind forward. This is regression to the lowest common denominator and is a plan that pulls the majority of all humans down with it.

Aubrey, I think we just need to agree that humans eating animals is normal, natural, and healthy. Morrissey's cries for worldwide veganism is just another one of his stupid ideas and we should just leave it at that.

Completely agree. The math is simple. An eater of meat who dies childless causes much less suffering than a vegan who breeds.

My studies included suffragy
I formed my own society
to study the power of fecundity
The world will overpopulate
Unless you claim infertility

So who will buy a drink for me, your messiah
We are not your friends
We don't give a damn for what you're saying
We're here to live our lives ….
