Odd Questions, perhaps, re Morrissey's Development

How do you stay balanced and recharge your battery, given the stress of modern life, and all the things you have going on in your career? Do you ever have to get away from the music or your responsibilities for a moment in order to re-center? If so, what kinds of things do this for you? And most importantly, how is your health in general?

I don’t manage to remain very balanced! I’ve suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for several years, and I feel intensely melancholic every day. But have you ever actually heard of anyone who found lasting happiness? I think human existence is painful... fear, loneliness, physical decay, ill-health, loss ... and we must face these things every single day whilst also exercising the most austere self-discipline about work, money, appearance, and so on. It’s confusing also because although money in itself is not the source of life, everything arounds us tells us that it is.

SAM:
Your mother … my grandmother, died in 2020, and I know you suffered an emotional breakdown.
M:
Yes. Yes. It killed me. It was the first feeling of being alone… in the true sense of the word. It brings something that you cannot cope with … the final stage of growing up, perhaps. And apart from your own nervous breakdown you realize that there remains only one more important event in your life and that is your own death. When you give that unimaginable final hug, you also die. How can you not? I haven’t recovered, I’ve simply adjusted to the pain. It doesn’t get better.

Morrissey, Central, July 2021

There's now a Morrissey quote to support everything I said in my first post on this thread.

No need for access to his inner thoughts or having tea with him.

This site is worse than university.

That's really strange, if I were to believe anything you write, because you're saying Michael Jackson is a pedo in another thread. I believe he is, but you seem to apply these beliefs you're claiming to hold in a really arbitrary manner.

WTF you taser someone for holding a :flashlight:
you see EVERYONE in the hood as a criminal📸
Poor psycho babble, FC.
because one person is guilty doesnt mean everybody has to be :lbf:

OMG😱
She never stops, does she? Is this a personal crusade that she is undertaking?? To rehabilitate Morrissey, and then he will personally get in contact with her…..and reward her with a dream job of working for him?
I had to put her on ignore! She’s exasperating. I never sought out to be combative with her, but she’s very irritating.

The HBO documentary on the Woody Allen case talks to lots of people involved in it. I know that all documentaries have a viewpoint and that he wasn't actually convicted but it's really not about Mia Farrow, or how eccentric she really is. The whole situation with them was strange and as a predator he took advantage of that. There are doctors, judges and social workers who gave interviews and as nutty as Mia Farrow may be these people are pretty solid.

But that's kind of another subject anyway to detract from what Morrissey actually said.

After Kevin Spacey spent weeks gaining the trust of the parents of a 14 year old boy Morrissey's comment is "where were the parents?" This implies to me that if a sexual predator like Spacey can gain the trust of a family and lure a kid to his home that anything that happens is the parents' fault. As you said, it's unfortunate.

How are you Vegan Cro Spirit 555?

How do you know that I’m a chick?

What are your favorite Morrissey and Smiths songs respectively? I’m very curious about your taste. I’m sure you have impeccable taste.

These are some excellent quotes. I couldn't help but comment on them.
He really does sum up life perfectly here, or the way I see it at least.

What are you talking about? I’ve consistently used the same username. I started out as a guest, and then I became a member.
I’m going to put you on ignore because you keep repeating the same nonsense.
I was thinking about giving you a chance, because I usually like clever trolls, but of course, you aren’t a clever troll.

To me he just sounds deeply, deeply unhappy. I'm not sure that's a 'change' because he's always had bouts of depression, but it seems like he's been in a dark place for a long time now. I remember an old 80s interview where he said that he was frightened of death, even as a child, and he couldn't shake this reality that he was going to die one day. I think his mother's death has made him more aware of mortality and maybe those old thoughts have re-surfaced, he seems very pre-occupied with 'the end.'

'Mozsplaining' is just what she does. I think she means well... I think she cares. But she ties herself in knots trying to justify his every word, every inner thought, because nobody can do that. Even his beloved Mum couldn't read his mind, so it's beyond a fan.
Stop trying to control the narrative. I made one short post. You've made several long posts. If you feel that my one brief post somehow endangers the story you're attempting to force everyone to believe then I have to doubt your own confidence in it.
Said it perfectly.

Nerak has taught Vex everything she knows. Not to be messed with.

Is he possibly paranoid of dying? Honestly, I think he might possibly have OCD…. there are actually OCD obsessions that involve death.
He strikes me as very ritualistic.

Obviously, I’m in ZERO position to diagnosis him, but I have experience with OCD, because I’ve had it since I was child, and I deeply understand the disorder.

Vex, I am very sorry for all this grief for you having responded to my question.

I am very grateful to you for all this, as I am for certain other responses.

One does not need to know someone intimately to say the things you do. Great biographies have been written of people the biographer never met.

What one needs is to pay careful attention to the person over years, intelligently reflect on what s/he says, listening to anecdotes from others etc.

You are most obviously doing this.

Does this mean you are infallible? Of course not. But I don't hear you claiming that either!

Another thing, many/most of us read books/articles by journalists, authors etc trying to understand Morrissey or whoever, without knowing their subjects deeply. IMHO, you could do a better job here than a great many.

If you ever wrote a book of Morrissey, I would buy it in an instant.

And, no, I do not think it would be an infallible oracle on all things Moz - but it would be damn well worth reading!

I started this thread and remain really very grateful for these kind of responses.

Would also be grateful for links to other observers, articles etc considering these kinds of questions.

I shall stress: very grateful indeed for this thread, which I'm still digesting.

Real gifts to me here. Thank you Vex but others too.

The pile on here was rather unfortunate, I did think you were being provided with reasonable responses from Vex, along with substantial material to back up those answers. I really wish some people would just let others converse and go to the off topic section if they really need to be so rude and inconsiderate. Rifke and I did get sidetracked by Neil, sorry about that, but he is dreamy.

at the rate you’re going, you’ll soon have everyone on ignore. Just be talking to yourself. 🙃

No, I think most people I won’t put on ignore.
And if you’re referring to Vex? I probably won’t keep her on ignore for long… I actually believe she likely has good intentions/ compassion with regard to how she sees Morrissey, but we approach Morrissey differently than one another. I have no Ill will toward her. The other ignore… no that’s not likely to change…
