Non-alcohol-related Morrissey sightings in London?

Mr. Tibbles

New Member
Mr. Mr. Tibbles & I will be in London for 2 weeks in late March/early April. Not that I'd stalk him or anything, but does anyone know of Morrissey sightings around London? He probably won't even be in London at that time, but if I happen to slither by a Waitrose or some other place he's been known to frequent, I certainly wouldn't mind gawking in awe. We don't touch alcohol, so going to pubs is out. I would also like to visit Manchester to visit Smiths-related sites, but don't know if I can convince Mr. Mr. Tibbles to accompany me on such a jaunt.

So.... you are asking us where has Morrissey been seen visiting in London in the past, in the hope that he may be in London in late March / early April and go to these places again, where you just may bump into him?

Also, whilst I applaud your alcohol free lifestyle, why does this rule out visiting pubs? They do serve non alcoholic drinks (understand if you are a recovering alcoholic though)

But yes, definately do Manchester too:guitar::guitar:
For the London & Manchester Smiths / Morrissey related places, I was given a copy of this book at Xmas and think you will find it most useful:thumb:

Do English pubs with a kitchen generally serve mac & cheese like American bars do? Sorry, I realize this doesn't help you spot Morrissey, I was just wondering this the other day and when talk of pubs surfaced, I thought I'd ask. :p

You should visit Kew Gardens (London Underground District Line, Richmond branch).
Morrissey and Johnny appeared on a children's TV show 'Charlie's Bus' which was shot in Kew Gardens.
You might find footage on youtube.

Thanks, everybody. But, um, did you see I wrote "Mr. Mr. Tibbles?" I'm a woman!

It's not the drinking I object to; I just don't like the environment in bars, and I know MR. MR. TIBBLES :lbf: wouldn't enjoy that.

I did come across Panic On The Streets last year in Waterstone at Notting Hill Gate whilst we were there and purchased it. I plan to visit some places in London which I didn't see on my Morrissey-related tour then. I will follow your recommendations! I would also like to visit the West Ham Boys Club.

Thanks again! :thumb:

actually, this is not true in a lot of the USA dear, just here in California where new liqour licenses have become almost impossible to get
but it is fairly easy to get a license to server alcohol at a "restaurant"
so must bar and club owners go that route and offer a small menu of food
now you know CG :thumb:

It's the same in North Carolina.

Pardon my ignorance....what is mac and cheese?

macaroni (elbow shaped pasta) and cheese

why it would ever be served in a bar/tavern is beyond me

I need to change bars if there is mac&cheese being served elsewhere!!! Though the closest bar to my apartment is known for their awesome free pizza and popcorn and also for having the 'coldest beer' in the city.

The Cat & Fiddle sells it. :p

Thanks - yes, I know what macaroni is, just not heard it referred to as just 'mac'. I thought it meant burger and cheese (as in 'Big Mac'!)
And I do not know of one pub in England that has ever sold it!:barf:
But as explained above, I can understand that in the 'paranoid alcohol zone' that is America (I'm 47 and still get asked to produce ID:rolleyes:) in towns that will only give a licence to sell alcohol if food is being served, then this is a good way of getting around the archaic law:thumb:

In addition to the Cat & Fiddle, which is kinda more restraunty than bar, Rush Street and Backstage in Culver City. Casey's in Downtown LA. (There's was the BEST but I had it on the day they reopened from being shut down for a health code violation so beware. :p) Just had some at a place called Black Sheep in SLO. I've had it other places, I don't do a lot of bar-hopping but it seems when a bar does have a kitchen, they serve it.
