Re: eno/Southpaw

Hm. Southpaw. It sounds like Andrew Lloyd Webber imitating Gary Numan. But it's horribly weird and I dig that.

Yes, it was a Q Awards or something. He presented the trophy and introduced them as "the very sexy U2" and walked offstage with Bono arm in arm. It's true.

I'm not sure if it was the Q Awards or not - wasn't it some Irish music awards held in Dublin?

The name of the award was Novello.

THAT'S it - the Ivor Novello Awards for songwriting!

What I truly love about Morrissey the "popstar" is how, throughout his career, he's not ONCE given in to current trends or let others influence the direction he's taken with his music/persona. Granted, his style has changed via his collaborations with various other artists, but he's never pandered to anyone, does not, to this day.

Indeed, he seems to take a certain pride in his stubbornness and obliviousness (is that a word??) of music he doesn't particularly like.

Gotta love the Moz.

Stuart stays in and he thinks it's a sin that he has to leave the house at all.

In fact, the Novello Award was for Morrissey whole career.

Fabricio!!

wait, i'm confused, first you guys were saying that Moz presented U2 an award. then, fabricio implied that Morrissey got a "lifetime achievement" award...

WAS MORRISSEY'S WHOLE CAREER HONORED??!!

i would be astonished if so!

Oh I think he presented one award to Bono and he receives this one from his whole career. The Morrissey-solo news archive there are some informations.

He does seem to exist totally within himself. I find it very strange though. No [new] influences at all, just... 100% Morrissey. It's as if he survives in a bubble.

Although I would like to see him taking at least *some* chances though. I don't know. I just think it would be interesting. I do wish he would write again with Johnny Marr--not under the guise of a decrepit Smiths or anything; still as "Morrissey," only with Johnny Marr taking credit as co-writer. Johnny's gone a bit wild lately, and I think working with Morrissey would do him some good by giving him some musical focus/direction. Morrissey will always be good, but I think he just needs a little spice to make his enchilada a little better... sorry, bad mexican-reference/joke.

You know I do.
