Having bought the NME CD a few weeks ago and last week buying the Under the Influence CD on the strength of it, which do you think is the best?
personally, I think UTI is taking the piss. What a load of crap save the New York Dolls, Ludus and The Ramones.
Country / rock'n'roll and skiffle......
yet the NME CD is fantastic.

I agree that STSYL is marginally better ... although the purpose of those 2 discs is quite difference.

UTI is, obviously, a compilation of Morrissey's influences. I actually really enjoy the old rockabilly, rock'n'roll, cajun and reggae songs. I stands to reason that there aren't going to be any songs up hip/upcoming bands etc.

STSYL life is, essentially a sampler for Morrissey's Meltdown festival, and a chance for the NME to sell Morrissey to "the kids".

They're both great albums.

You can't really compare the two because they're so different but I'd go for the NME cd if I was pushed. Mostly because Under The Influence was twelve quid and the NME cd was three and I'm tight like that.

No of course its not all about money. Do I really need to write sarcasm in brackets when i am not entirely serious?
