New Song | Art-Hounds

Art-Hounds – Write something ??
Look, nothing!
And those that do are judged by those who tried
and found they couldn’t do

Art-Hounds see the Greek Ideal
Gaze on what they never feel
The pitiless revenge of those without friends
Pitiless, pitiless revenge

Art-Hounds nose around
They’ve seen it somewhere written down
And everything they’ve seen on the moving screen
helps them (pick up the pace) ??

In European museums
Will I see you?(x6)
In European museums
Will i see yer????

My life is opera(x4)

Art-Hounds in a restaurant
They bring along their lolling aunt
But when they can’t find a table for their fat aunt Mabel
They stamp their feet and cry

(repeat)

In European ?? museums
Will I see you? (x6)
In European ?? museums
Will I see yer?

My life is opera(x4)

Art-Hounds –
Very funny; very witty; but very lonely
And below the belt is shrivelled and small -
It knows a thousand woes

(repeat)

In European ?? museums
Will I see yer?

When you cannot stand the real world
When you cannot stand the real world
take my hand
When you cannot stand the real world
When you cannot stand the real world
take my hand
When you cannot stand the real world...

I take fifteen pills to send me to sleep
And fifteen pills to send me away

What do they mean?
what do they mean?
what do they mean?
what do they mean?
What do they mean?
What does it mean?

Nobody knows

My favourite of the new ones! His voice sounds excellent

I really like the Aunt Mabel line personally...brings back memories of Pippin :D.

Really good track. Liked it straight away last night.

Yes, Pippin!
Looking forward to hearing Art-Hound again tonight hopefully. Also hope he throws in something else too, even just a different oldie. I thought last night was the shortest set yet....dont correct me.

Art-hounds
Write something, but Art-hounds look! Nothing!
And those who do are judged by those
Who tried and found they couldn't do
Oh, oh oh, oh

Art-hounds
Seek the Greek ideal, gaze on what they'll never feel
Pitiless revenge, those without friends
Pitiless, pitiless revenge

Art-hounds
Nose around, they've seen it somewhere written down
And everything they've seen on the moving screen
Helps them pinpoint the page?

*sigh* Only Morrissey could make me love a song with lyrics this bad. I can't get it out of my head. :(

I love the below the belt bit.

Thank you so much, lyric deducers. You guys are rad.

Is Greek possibly great? That's what I heard with only one listen on an iphone speaker.

EDIT It's Greek. GOD that's a fantastic song.

God the vocal melody to the "My life is Opera" part is great, but it's killing me that its reminding me of another song and I can't quite get what it is.

So, does anyone want to know which opera Morrissey's life is? I may be a nobody but I happen to know. :D

Only heard it once but...

I abso-bloody-lutely love it.

After scepticism from the 3 Janice Long songs, I am massively excited about the new album. This has got single potential too.

I still think he is saying "a book", not "opera".

A libretto can be a book. lol

It sounds like opera to me, but maybe I'm doing that thing where one person suggests a word and that's all I hear.

Either the one with the sad clown or the one with the fat viking lady, right? Which is basically all Opera.

No, not that ... its non-Morrissey, but argh, gonna do my head in getting to it.

Nope. The Magic Flute. He's Mozart living in his own creation in another life, that's why we call him Moz.

Luckily in this life he doesn't die in a pauper's grave. Papageno finds Papagena and they live happily ever after. See? He's a bird.

(I stole this from the other site taken by the poster TheReader, I sent her a cutout once, I doubt she'll mind.)

But getting back to what I percieve to be the context of the song, Morrissey doesn't really care about all this Art-hound photography and greatness and identifying the ghosts within us, the act itself makes us pawns to some small moment of wonder for people who can't stand the real world. Morrissey has a real Greek ideal he can tend to. I think.

fantastic song!
the only song since skull and you have killed me, that REALLY gets me, fully, from beginning to end.
thanks, sir, once again, youve done it

my favorite parts are the "will I see you" bit, and the fat aunt mabel-line. (yes i admit)
i dont like the drums (as nearl in all recent song), apart from that, its great
