Mporium - Official Morrissey Merchandise stores (UK and US) launch - true-to-you.net

Re: TTY: Mporium

This will be the first SALE item. Nobody voluntarily buys royal blue. I'm just trying to help. (Other than Morrissey in that jersey, lol. ^^) Look, I worked in retail for over 20 years. I'm just trying to add some variety for the subtle seekers whose money spends as good as that kids.

Royal Blue is a beautiful color. I love that. Is it part of the merch? I don't remember seeing it before. I'll have to check again. :)

Re: TTY: Mporium

The merch stand is too complicated, I just keep walking.

At Barnes we discovered this interesting thing regarding impulse items and perhaps the merch manager could learn from this as concert shirts are impulse items. They'd send us 150 different book marks and a ginormous display for them. We'd put them out wasting 10 square feet of display space so one or two little girls with their allowance money would pick out $3 worth of bookmarks a week. So we selected four different bookmarks and put fifty of each four styles at each register. Suddenly they were flying out the door. We told them "this bookmark" is popular as evidenced by its quantity and exclusivity. Same w Godiva bars in the cafe. They have 10 different flavors. But if we just put out toffee in mass quantity, suddenly they sold. If you give them too many options they give up and keep walking. That's why Apple is so genius w it's slick, minimal packaging. That's why In-n-Out kills it with it's six item menu. (Pardon the meat metaphor but profit is meat is meat is money, you gotta learn from the ones doing it right.)

Maybe his merch stand is killing it in profit, I dunno. I just know I never feel inclined to buy a shirt. I like the shoplifters bag. I wish he offered lyric shirts. I'd wear a subtle "Little Lamb on a hill, run fast if you can." shirt in a heartbeat. It's always his face. He's more than a face.

Re: TTY: Mporium

Aww, do you feel excluded?

Am I suggesting he sell a shirt that says "I'm dumping my nuts on CG's titties after the show. Good night and thank you!" No. I'm talking about the topic at hand, merchandise. Try to make something NOT about you Jehne.

(I bet that shirt would sell out in 5 shows. :p)

Re: TTY: Mporium

The Palladium t-shirt that people are saying is copied, was actually on sale at the Palladium gig itself back in 2011, so they aren't copied from ETSY. They all sold out quickly that night so I assume another batch has been made.

I was at that Palladium concert on that date so I am interested in the t-shirt. It was the last time I saw Morrissey and he was great. He also played there on Ringleaders tour as a residency so I have fond memories of this venue. CR

Re: TTY: Mporium

Shouldn't Moz be Goliath considering the botched US 2013 tour:squiffy:

Those aren't bad. Too bad you don't have Morrissey on them. Is that because of trademark issues?

No, those were just design choices. MOZ is as close as I got!

Ahhh...this language. Where have I heard this? Yes...now I remember. That shack during R&R in 'Nam. Allright! Forget the t-shirts.

As soon as I finish this grave ....I'm taking two showers.

Actually "Good Night and Thank you" would be a rad shirt.

do they still dig graves with shovels. doesnt sound very cost effective. i always imagined theyd just use a bobcat and save the money and time

Re: TTY: Mporium

I'd wear a shirt that said "OVERPRICED FRIEND". :D

Actually since it's retail fun fact friday, did you know that internal theft accounts for more revenue loss than petty theft? Those cameras in the ceiling aren't watching someone try to steal a bargain copy of Wuthering Heights, they're watching the employees dip into the till.

I did know that....I'm going to order that Barbershop shirt in 2XL so I can get somebody else inside.

I wish he was offering a Mrs Shufflewick shirt. I would wear it with pride.

barbershop one is the one im going for as well cause it just seems to say so much about the man with that image. as for the stealing its really more for stealing merch not cash as the register is pretty good at tracking itself at barnes.

Oh ye of little faith in the art of deception.

I was the cash wrap manager for a good run of my eight years there. When a bookseller is netting $6.00 an hour after taxes, a couple twenties here and there to bump it up becomes a bit of an addiction. After a while it's because "I deserve it, godammit. If they won't take care of me after all I do for them, I will take care of me." Imagine working a merch stand with no inventory system while the cholas are literally handing you fistfuls of twenties? That's a lot of temptation for someone whose three months behind on their car payments and their girlfriend is nagging them for a Coach bag for Valentines Day. The only way to avoid internally theft in Moz's case is to institute an inventory system of accountibility, check pockets which is demeaning and never works, or take care of the merch people big time. Buy them the suites. Take them to dinner. Lots of smiles and eye contact. Thieves steal when they feel neglected. Also institute a Secret Shopper Program every show so they think every mascara'd girl saying "I'll take a Barbershop in medium...do you have any swerve for Morrissey stickers?" is someone watching their hands and pockets.

I get these feelings...like w the Kristeen thing? There's something off w merch. And it's linked to Steyn. He knows stuff he's not saying.

Re: TTY: Mporium

Ok, I think I've officially entered old age. When I see Tshirts for 25 quid and feel like waving a walking stick and shouting: I remember when...
Still, good luck to them over at surplus cancelled gig tshirts dot com ;)
Regards,
FWD

WTF is a "quid"? What's the difference between the Brit site and the America is the world site? Is shipping going to cost more squid if we order from the Brit site?
