Moz support acts info

Marion were the best support act I saw - Blackpool '95.

I still long for a Marion revival... :tears:

Dave

I thought Marion had actually reformed recently? I read they had played a few shows and we writing new songs. They were a good support band though and it was a shame that they split up. Guess they couldn't handle the fame and the drugs...

Bradford supported moz on his first ever gig

Best I've ever seen, by an Irish country mile, were Pony Club, at the RAH and Ambassador in Dublin (2002). Fecking aces, so they were. Still luv 'em. Listened to 'Home Truths' last week and it still blows me away. Mark Cullen is some kind of tiny twisted genius.

what was pj harvey like as a support act?how did it go?
and was she getting an diff welcome as some other support acts did in the past(i would assume so?)?
i was surprised reading here she was doing the support slotin 2004 as in general his support acts are newcomers and pj being a long established act in the the biz doing the support ..hmmm

I didn't go to Earl's Court gig, don't know about it.

However, although he dropped out, Morrissey supported David Bowie in 1995.

Yes absolutely could not handle the drugs...

I think their reforming was held back by illness in the band, very disappointing! They were a great support in 1995...

what was Phranc like? was she that lesbian?

that

?

Probably plenty more are lesbians ... 1 out of ten ... so you do the maths.

Anyway, stuff re Phranc, the 'All-American, Jewish Lesbian Folksinger' as she labels herself

PJ Harvey played a very decent set when I saw her support Morrissey in December 2004 (?) at the NIA in Birmingham. She was second support after James Makers Noko 440. There had been a bit of a storm brewing (on here mainly) before the gig, as she had previously made supportive comments about hunting and defended the 'counrtyside' way of life. But all went well on the night.

Phranc supported on the Kill Uncle tour. I can't remember all that much about her to be honest? I recall that she was billed at the Wembley Arena gig in 91, but the trains were up the spout and everyone arrived late. We all expected her to come on and instead the house lights were dimmed, Klaus Nomi bellowed and Morrissey came on to much panic! I eventually got to see her a couple of months later at the Leicester De Mounfort Hall. I just remember a one woman guitar and vocal set. It was one of the last times I saw the abundance of flowers at a gig. I recall the chants and flower waving taking centre stage over her set.

For me, Kirsty MacColl and the New York Dolls have provided the best supports for Morrissey. Marion were a low point for me. Mostly though I just can't be bothered with them.
