I just got season 4 of brilliant bbc political satire The thick of it for christmas, and was delighted to find a Morrissey quip in there! Wimpy Political advisor olly Reeder is visited in hospital by hard-talking, steel jawed (not to say slightly deranged) Labour party enforcer Malcolm Tucker, who strides in, unceremoniously chucking a bouquet of flowers into the foot end of Reeders hospital bed. "Oh look" says Reeder, " its the scary Morrissey". :) Nice, especially on a show as popular as ttoi. Presupposes quite a lot of common awareness of Morrissey in the British public. And a great joke, Tucker is rather the anti-Morrissey as a singleminded, ruthless pursuer of power, unapologetic bully and merciless exploiter of weakness. And then again perhaps he is also a bit similar in his total comittment and self-sufficiency.

I still haven't watched Thick of It series 3 and 4 yet.
Possibly someone else reported it when it was originally broadcast in UK in 2009.

This kind of minor references in TV shows / films can be posted to Strange / Unexpected Morrissey reference thread.

It can hardly have been reported in 2009,as it was originally aired a couple of months ago. Anyway, there might possibly be some small point in poting it separately, on the remote off-chance that there are people who have not fully absorbed all 145 pages of that thread?
