Moz loves Young The Giant - TrueToYou update

YOUNG THE GIANT - true-to-you.net

Having suffered with relish so much yes-but-no new music, I could break down with happiness at the new - debut - CD by Young The Giant. I will be kneeling with gratitude on a hardwood floor for many years to come. It is the whole thing ... it is the perfect tone ... and Sameer's voice is unbreakable.
If there is any justice in the world (and we all know there isn't) Young The Giant will own most of it by August. It's so easy to fire out remnants of snobbery where new music is concerned (in fact, I find it VERY easy), but once every three thousand years, a band comes along who restore that precious component of faith. Had I the gift of adequate words I would express more than mere thanks.
Instead, I shall leave it at that.

I saw these on Jools Holland a few weeks back and thought they were quite good. I downloaded the album on the strength of their live sound but the album isn't great. Definitely not life changing!

Well, maybe Morrissey is helping out a friend or Maybe he actually likes them,,,I hope they are not supporting him..to me they are awful in the way that Doll and the Kicks are awful. Nice enough BUT lacking in ANY originality or danger

Blackburn Rovers are the best!

This is a time machine and it is 1995 again!!!

Urban in Sweden (singing: "he lives in a box a very big box, Jack Walker, and like it or not the c*** is gonna rot, Jack Walker)

*to the chorus of Blur's "country house"

Are you stupid enough to believe that pop music can be "dangerous"? Dangerous to what? To whom? Do you think that Morrissey is "dangerous"? Are you actually that stupid?

Doll & the Kicks are great. Far superior to the usual shite he has supporting him on tour.

I agree wholeheartedly! Dull and the kicks are awful and whatever kick they are on has been done by Siouxsie years ago. Even the name "Young the Giant" wreaks of trying too hard. They sound like U2 and Coldplay. I'm stunned Moz loves them. At least with Kristeen she's original and different.

Thak you very much! I bet 100 euro if someone talks about Kristeen Young and I' m the winner! Anyway Doll and Kick are a nice band with a charismatic front woman, about Young the Giant I don't know much about them, but they look interesting. About Kristeen, yes, she's original and different expecially when she fall down on the floor and kicking the drum set!

why are people praising Doll And The Kicks? They have got to the absolute WORST support act he ever selected - and that's saying something!

Porn chic. They love the porn chic. Like PVC, leather, gum. The woman also thinks she is liberal when she could not portray any worse female image. Speaks for you, romina, that you do not like this and that you are more advanced than many Morrissey fans ever will be.

Oh sorry, wasn't romina, I take it back, the anonymous, not her.

I heard a few songs past sunday from ' Young the Giant' ...

musicly it's not really stunning but OK, but indeed it's the voice who
grabs you, which gives it that little more than the average hype bands
on the NME cover weekly [dunno weekly covers, but every year
at least 10 times a year i get compared with The Smiths, which
any musicmag shoulod stop doing that

The Smiths was one of a kind as many good bands, also Young the Giant though
I hope they grow musicly

tension raising , gigs coming, new songs, setlist:guitar:

Yep, ol' Moz has finally lost it!

They sound like f***ing U2!..that is if U2 were being f***ed by a power drill in a black hole...

Wait, I pointed out Smoking Popes and I'm called an idiot? I was responding to someone who said Morrissey never recommended anything good.

Bands he's recommended that I bought as a result:

SUEDE.
He covered My Insatiable One (much to the dismay of Brett Anderson). And then recommended them to the world before their debut had any hype.

ECHOBELLY
Everyone's already said this.

SMOKING POPES.
I never paid attention until he recommended them...and not a bad album at all...

Bands I may not have listened to if it weren't for him:
The Jam, New York Dolls.

Brett Anderson's comment "I love Morrissey and obviously we love The Smiths. But he massacred the lyrics and his band really wasn't up to snuff. It was almost disrespectful."

Keep in mind, Suede were my favorite band of the 90s, so I likly would have went on to like them anyway. However, he was recommending them in 1991-1992... Prior to "Your Arsenal" period... and prior to SUEDE's debut.

I would list Suede,Marion, Bradford, Echobelly, The Libertines and Kristeen Young as among my fave Moz support people. The Smoking Popes were OK but they sounded like an American Gene to me- that is a one idea band (and that idea was stolen and drained of any REAL worth)

I had heard and seen Suede before Moz tried to kill their song, I had also seen The libertines and had a few of their songs. Marion I had heard of BUT never heard and the rest were via Moz.

I think when Moz says he likes some bands its sometimes JUST to give someone a helping hand. Also, when he says he doesn't like some bands its because they are becoming a threat.
