Moz deal rumour

I've just heard this rumour from someone I don't really know. It seems that Morrissey signed a deal this tuesday!!! and it seems that Moby will be producing, as it was rumoured.

From the same source, it seems that there will be a Smiths Box Set containing eveyr track they recorded (including the complete BBC sessions)!!!!!!

And again from the same source, it seems that EMI is doing all this things because they're planning to get Moz & Marr back together!!!

Now, this is all too good to be true, I just want to know if anyone has heard anything regarding this!!

Thanks

You know, you would have had more punch in the credibility department had you left out this entire post and written something completely different.

You'll probably only see Morrissey and Marr together at poor old Kirsty's funeral.

You are ALL wrong!

Moz/Marr will get together when BOTH of their upoming albums bomb. But you all knew that anyway, soo... In all actuality they are both done. And if they want to ever redeem themselves both personally and profesionally(as musicians) they'll sell-out like every other group does and do a nostalgia tour(with/without Andy and Mike...guessing without). Who knows....a new collaboration might even surpass what's in the vaults and in your collections already. And if it doesn't...I'd bet it'd be better than anything either of them could do by themselves.
One thing I know for sure is that that if they release a boxed set including rarities that every die-hard already owns I will give up my 15 year obsession. Thats a promise. They owe us BIG time for standing by BOTH of them. I can imagine 90% of the responses(if any) to my post. They'd all say "moz doesn't ANYBODY a damned thing". That is BS. He's lamely or lazily coasted thru the last few years of his career. And we have supporeted him during this time. Marr...on the otherhand...I won't even comment on, although I really do love him. If it's good enough for the WHO, then it's good enough for Moz/Marr. Give the fans what we deserve(and pay the rent at the same time). If you both don't, you are fools.> You'll probably only see Morrissey and Marr together at poor old

Do you really want them to have a special on VH1 like the Eagles, doing the mellow version of "Bigmouth" for the aging and politely seated crowds?

Excuse me, sister. Get off my cloud.

I'd settle for them doing the equivalent of Oasis doing "rock and roll star" six years down the road, though. Moz/Marr would be wonderful today as the Smiths. Don't fool yourself into thinking Eagles, Suzanne. You're being silly, now. Remember Moz 1997 in california doing "The Queen Is Dead" as a one-off? THAT is what I'm speaking of and THAT is what they'd give us. It won't be dopey Don Henley. It'll be dopey Mozz/Marr. If they reformed, they BOTH are dying to rock out, soooo.... mellow versions will not even be in question. Suzanne, get off my cloud. Not every Moz show has a crowd ALL OUT OF THEIR SEATS. Plenty of times these dolts are seated behind me as I'm standing up, blocking their view.
Don't get me mad now, Suzanne.

Thats a really good idea.

They could hide the aging process as all aging stars do.

Morrissey will grow his hair very long on one side and then comb it all over to the other side - a "comb-over" in other words.

Johnny will wear a corset and very thick pan-stick make-up.

They will both be dreaming of the glory days when they could fit into brightly coloured girls shirts.

Well said - I think you'll find that more support your views!

If one is supposedly "lazy" and one is too horrible to even talk about, how can this collaboration work?

You live on this little planet where both of them have two modes: "Smiths" mode and "Shi.t" mode. It isn't a split personality disorder. I'm sure that both of these guys...um, I mean, one of these guys is still very interested in working and creating the music they want.

But that one-off was with Boz and crew. Are you sure if Johnny Marr came back and played, it would live up to those standards set in '97?

Of course, I'm always in the wrong place at the wrong time and never got to hear "The Queen is Dead" played live. I probably never will as Mr. Bell Bottoms is complaining about Brocolli Spears taking away his chances for a record deal.

Don't you think you are imagining what would happen a bit too much?

Facts that burst your bubble:

1. Johnny Marr has not been making flattering jokes about Moz or the Smiths when asked because he is tired of people asking what should be obvious.

2. After the courtcase, I'm sure that all 4 of them are sick of looking at one another. Morrissey blames Mike. Johnny blames Morrissey and Mike. Mike blames Morrissey and Johnny. And with that much tension, there is no chance of an enjoyable or laid back performance from anyone.

3. The smith's were an era for them as much as for you. All you care about them doing is pulling out their greatest hits and putting on that dream concert of "Top Smiths' tunes of all time" so you can dance around in some nostalgia fest.

> Suzanne, get off my cloud. Not every Moz show has a crowd ALL

yes, but it didn't look like anyone was watching the 3 tenors in concert, did it?

Other notables on VH1:

The cure- once the champion of goth freaks, crowd seated or standing and staring politely as Robert and crew finish their songs with uninterrupted peace.
Duran Duran- teeny bopper favorites of the early to late eighties. Simon LeBon alleged to have inspired lust in 15 year old girls. Now, crowd politely bobbing their heads to their childhood favorites.
Elvis Costello (on Storytellers)-one new wave punker with funny glasses, leaping around stage singing "radio, radio". now playing to gooney-eyed fans firmly seated and reserving their response to the end of the song.
Johnny Cash-supreme beermeister from the Ozarks manly singing tales of drinking and fighting. Now, appearing in storytellers paired with Willie Nelson with the only connections between the two is that they write country songs and are old, playing to yuppies and not one sign of a lit cigarette.

Now, I ask you again....do you think this is the sort of thing that should happen to the dynamic duo?

> Don't get me mad now, Suzanne.

Sue, relax!
You put entirely way too much time and thought into your comments here. Perhaps you're taking valuable time away from your journalist job at Rolling Stone?

They won't take me. I didn't do an internship in the mailroom.

I need some clarification, please.

"Internship in the mailroom" is another term for??? I amost hate to ask, but I'm such a busybody. Well???

Strike a pose.

Vaseline on the camera lense(and many other well-placed areas) hide old age quite well. Just For Men hair dye(DARK brown) could be provided for free if they decide to do a commercial for the company(which is an excellent one I must say) (I'm feeling interlude-esque duet between moz and marr for said commercial).

Morrissey could get better wigs if they go commercial. And better friends. And Marr could quite simply get a life. Both of those tods together could make beautiful muzak together. Alone they will bore the masses to tears. I read that last quote somewhere so I'm guilty for plagiarism. Um sorry.

s a really good idea.

the 6hts rule, orrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Re: I need some clarification, please.

It's what it says.

An "internship" is when you work for a place for free as part of course credit in college. You do crummy grunt work such as answering phones and sorting papers, and it somehow makes you magically qualified to do detailed work. Especially in media related fields, it's nearly your only way into getting paying jobs.

Of course with Rolling Stone being such snoots and all, they may take me if I had some hip, underground webzine with a big following. I know I can't even get the local art and media mag to give me a first look because I don't have some majorly cool resume that they and their indie friends would give a @#!!! about.

Hell, I hadn't even been to see a decent live band in 3 months. What a great way to start my music journalist career. I'm too tired. Go find someone who has a light college course load and no expectations of being paid.
