Moz and the heckler

What the f*** sense of humor did Morrissey have? Saying "turn on the lights" and so forth? Was that really called for? Was Morrissey in good humor with that power play from the stage, to humiliate someone who just spouted off whatever?

I remember when Morrissey ruined the night for everyone in Cleveland just cuz one person in attendance held up a sign in support of Mike Joyce.

If you wanna go on about having a sense of humor, etc., that's fine. I didn't see any sense of humor from Morrissey in that YouTube clip. NOT AT ALL. Quite the opposite of a sense of humor from the boy on stage. All I saw was a thin-skinned pop star "losing it" on a fan who probably didn't even know what was going on.

If Morrissey had handled the situation with humor, I'd agree with you. But he didn't. He handled it like an ass.

Or, he handled it like a pop star who is trying to get in the press when his latest release ("Swords") is a rip off.

Bloody hell, which side of the bed did you get up from?
Read the very second post in this thread that I wrote for my view on the incident. The sense of humour bit was referring to the original comment made by Morrissey about Hamburg (which you are correct, wasn't in the clip) not about what he did during the clip:rolleyes:

Wow... There's so much Moz-Hate on this f***ing forum! Why the hell do you degenerates waste your precious time with thousands of posts on a man you so genuinely despise? Is it worth it? Is the Limp Bizkit forum still deactivated?

native german ears say (courtesy of typing fingers): moz was right

Moz' comment re the inhabitants of hamburg who should be called hamburgists
wasn't side-splittingly funny but why should it?

Remember the 'I am a Donut' way of a double - meaning of a placename ?
(see: JFK in Berlin)

Not only vegetarians, but plenty of people from Hamburg aren't too happy with a term which describes them as a 'sandwich consisting of a cooked patty of ground flesh'

So obviously it was kindness from Mozzers side with a humourous twinkle in the eye.

Germans under 50 know enough english
to realise mozzers comment wasn't derogatory or ridiculing people
to fully understand the meaning of 'F U'

An attention seeking guy who insults his professed love ...
Love is no excuse, there was/is no need to take shit ,

Mozzer handled the situation fine
(Would you like to continue working in an environment with a heckler if you could prevent it?)

I felt sorry for Moz but also a bit for the heckler. What he said was stupid and inappropriate, but English wasn't his first language, so I think he got something totally wrong. Which is of course no reason to say something as rude and immature as he said, but a lot of people are just not very intelligent, we all know that.
I saw him when he was "escorted" out of the venue by a security person, the look on his face was somewhere between pure confusion and shortly before starting to cry. The security guy dragged him out so aggressively, it looked like the arrest of a dangerous criminal, whilst everyone was whistling and booing at him, it was truly humiliating.
Of course it was his own fault and I don't believe that Moz wanted to humiliate anyone. The situation just got out of hand and turned out quite nasty, but you can't really blame Morrissey for that. I don't believe he enjoyed exercising the power he had over him.
When Morrissey lets the guy speak in the microphone he's at some point trying to say something like "I got confused...", but Moz doesn't let him speak out. He doesn't even give him the chance to explain himself, which is the only thing I would criticise about Moz in this situation. Otherwise I can understand Moz.

He was only trying to sing along to "Is It Really So Strange?".

Why are you here again? Just like to argue?

I find it funny that the same people who blast Morrissey's actions in Hamburg act just like him every single day.

Some of these people have no problem jumping down someone's throat and using obscenities, as long as they're giving, never receiving.

Some display a sense of personal entitlement to do and say anything they want, no matter how offensive or abrasive, while criticizing others as being somehow out of line and not entitled to hold or respond with a different opinion.

I think some people are better than others at applying the same set of standards to themselves and to others. Some people seem to be better than others at imagining what it would be like to be in someone else's shoes.

The fan misunderstood and sent insult back for what he thought was insult. A mistake.

Morrissey had a hall full of people giving him adoration and he decided to focus on and publicly humiliate the one person who didnt. A mistake.

What's the point of insisting one or the other should have behaved differently?
Who never makes mistakes? Raise your hand....
More to be concerned are those who don't learn from their mistakes.

The people who spend all their time here complaining about everything Morrissey says and does just like to hear themselves talk. By finding fault with almost his every move and repeating the same criticisms over and over they're not saying a thing about him at all, they're just broadcasting how unhappy their own little meaningless lives are by spending their time this way.

How many Grammy award-winning albums have those people written, I wonder... Maybe it's sour grapes. Or the human penchant for rooting for the underdog and hating when their friends become successful.

Are you Greek?

I think it's just typical behavior of insecure people - they have to make others appear smaller than they are in order to feel better about themselves. It's normal for everybody to do this from time to time IMO, but it's not normal for someone to come to a fan website every day just to boost their own ego by criticizing others. They're worthy of pity and eye rolls and not much else.

because racial generalisations is exactly what is needed now.

Actually, to be honest I was more interested in disproving the racial generalizations so many anti-American Brits and Europeans here love to toss out. But I didn't focus on any one race or country, just continents.

Since you brought up eye rolling :)rolleyes:)... I notice that assholes on this site seem to love using the :thumb: emoticon a LOT.

At the opening night of the Hacienda, Bernard Manning was being heckled. He turned to the heckler/s and said
'Say what ever you want, but one question - how are you getting home tonight? Me, I'm going home in my f***ing Rolls Royce'
:D
That's how you deal with them!

so i stand corrected...

because geographic generalisations is exactly what is needed now.

Fair enough, I've edited my post to remove the offending portion.
