a good step, but the real test will be how Quarry opens as an album next week. Singles Chart only gets you so far.

WTF?

Morrissey enters USA singles chart at #4
May 14, 2004 MORRISSEY ENTERS USA SINGLES CHART AT #4
“Irish Blood, English Heart” debuts on Billboard’s Singles Chart

"Irish Blood, English Heart," the first single from Morrissey's forthcoming album YOU ARE THE QUARRY, has debuted at #4 on the Billboard singles chart. The stellar sales debut of Morrissey’s first new recording in 7 years reflects the commitment and support of Morrissey’s loyal fans and alternative radio airplay on tastemaker stations KROQ LA and WXRK NY as well as video airplay on VH1. Morrissey's recent five night stands at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre and New York's Apollo Theatre both sold out in minutes. The New Musical Express declared "This song is solid proof that sometimes, only rarely, the best melodies combine with the best lyrics and the best performances, and at the point where those three elements meet we find not only the perfect pop song but the perfect pop single." Rolling Stone said “The album, like Morrissey's tenor, never stops defining and reinventing itself. The world, as Morrissey leaps to declare in one song, continues to be full of crashing bores. But YOU ARE THE QUARRY is a triumph of maladjusted vitality"

i've looked at the charts, nowhere to be seen, can someone intelligent
find a link to the chart?

Re: WTF? INDEED!

I've found two different listings so far and Morrissey is on neither of them.

How many billboard charts are there?

More charts than anyone can stand

i think webmaster over at morrisseymusic.com is confused, he's nowhere on the chart!

climber - new entry, re-entry

I bet it is #4 on the Modern Rock charts. The official site makes it sound as though it were #4 on the Official USA Top 40...highly unlikely given that "The More That Little Girl Ignores Morrissey, The Closer He Gets" peaked at #46 or #39 depending on the source. www.passionsjustlikemine.com says #46.

it's crap, he's in none of the charts, webmaster has got his facts up his
ass, i think he is going on the headlines here, no.4 midweek chart, that's
great for an official site, totally misleading information

Re: climber - new entry, re-entry

How could he have got this wrong though? It quite clearly says "debuted number 4 on the singles chart".

I can see it's a bit unbelievable though..

who knows, i think someone here would have mentioned it by now if moz
was a massive mainstream hit in the U.S., i looked at the charts, he's
not on it, time will tell, but i think he missed off a few digits before
the 4
