Movie/TV scenes that make you cry

We had this old thread: http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=86228&highlight=movies+cry but it's archived now.

For me, as far as TV shows go, this scene from Smallville is one of the saddest things I have ever seen:

The saddes movie I have ever seen in my life is without a doubt Grave of the Fireflies. If you can watch this movie without shedding a tear then your heart is made out of shit and no one will ever love you, ever.

I am admittedly an ice bitch when it comes to movies but GotF made me cry like a baby.

I saw Toy Story 2 in 3D a couple months ago and having seen the movie previously I was surprised when I completely lost it (AGAIN) at this scene. I have actually put this in my YouTube favorites in an attempt to desensitize myself to it, but so far, after about 40 viewings, I still bawl my head off EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Not crying so much as maybe a lump in the throat. Just off the top of my head...

In Shawshank Redemption when Morgan Freeman's character says that he hopes that the Pacific Ocean is as blue as it has been in his dreams.

In Vanilla Sky when Tom Cruise' character tells Penelope Cruz' character, "Look at us - I'm frozen and you're dead and I love you."

Forrest Gump.

Wynona Ryder dancing in the snow in Edward Scissorhands.

The scene in an untitled screenplay in my head where when the main character asks for proof from God and all at once, all the purple leaves fall off the plum tree he's sitting under, and a moment later they all rise back up again.

In the TV show Lost in the second season or so when Sawyer and Jack talk about Jack's dad and how Sawyer had a chance encounter with him before the plane crash.

Conan O'Brien's farewell speech on The Tonight Show.

I have a ton of these, this one came to mind because of some stuff on my mind lately. The entire movie is amazing, and this ten minutes of it especially, but the scene where Mrs. Jumbo defends and protects her son and is locked away from him as a result. It's just that she's big so percieved as dangerous but isn't really. :tears: It's the last 30 seconds of this clip but the clip is nice, it shows them bonding. The MAD ELEPHANT gets me every time. :tears:

That film made my ex-husband cry. That says a lot. That old goat cries sand for tears.

The Toy Story 2 scene listed here. OMG yes.

The ending of Big Fish.

I cried about four times during Up.

Haha... the scene in Julie and Julia when Julia reads the letter from her sister telling her she's having a baby.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (film)
rigg-lazenby.jpg

'Bond and Tracy marry in Portugal, then drive away in Bond's Aston Martin. Bond pulls over to the roadside to remove flowers from the car. Tracy thanks Bond for marrying her and having a future away from the British Secret Service. As this happens, Blofeld (wearing a neck brace) and Bunt in a Mercedes-Benz 600 drive past the couple's car, then Bunt sprays the car with bullets from an MP40. Bond dives behind the car and survives the drive-by attack, only to discover that Tracy has been killed by a shot to the forehead. A police officer pulls over to inspect the bullet-riddled car, prompting a stunned Bond to mutter that there's no need to hurry to call for help by saying, "We have all the time in the world," as he cradles Tracy's lifeless body. On that sad note, the movie comes to a close.'

Cathy Come Home was a BBC television drama by Jeremy Sandford, produced by Tony Garnett and directed by Ken Loach. Filmed in a gritty, realistic drama documentary style, it was first broadcast on 16 November 1966 on BBC1. The play was shown in the BBC's The Wednesday Play anthology strand, which was well known for tackling social issues.'
"....Cathy has her children taken away by social services."

The final scene of "City Lights" is a fantastic piece of acting, directing and one of the most moving scenes in cinema history.

Chaplin is very much underappreciated these days. His performance in these few minutes is the stuff of genius.
