Morrissey's range

A two page essay on morrissey's range please.

Yeah, well, I don't have a question per se, but I've always heard Marr had to adjust the guitars for his range...why?

Furthermore, I've heard he has a very limited range...is this true?

Enlighten me, if you will. I'm curious about the subject, but know nothing about music.

Morrissey's range, while not discernable in the attached picture, is reputed to be quite large. Far more than adequate. Rumors have it that it is a black/stainless steel electric range very similar to the model in the link below:

As anyone will tell you, it's not a person's range that's important but what a person does with it that counts. As we all know, Morrissey is notorious for not doing much with his, despite the fact that it is an expensive and quite impressive model. My inside source has indicated an intimate knowledge of Morrissey spearing slices of bread with forks and holding them over his range until they burn. He then serves this overdone toast to people he is entertaining at tea. I'll leave you to come to your own conclusions, but in my not-so-humble opinion this activity is a terrible waste of a fine piece of cooking equipment, and Morrissey should be told so. Well, he should be told so by someone bigger and more important than me, yes. But he should definitely be told.

My motion for a trend that must end in 2004:

NO MORE BURNT TOAST A LA MOZ!!!!

The Range

but why did Marr have to adjust his guitars for The Range? Surely such a lovely, modern range is not sensitive to certain tunings.

Maybe I should've specified VOCAL range, just to make such clever and amusing (yet foolish) replies less likely.

My reply was no more foolish than your expectation that anyone here would have any knowledge of if or why Johnny Marr had to adjust his tunings to accomodate Morrissey's vocal range. The person who would have the best knowledge of that would be...Johnny Marr. So next time you see him, be sure to wrestle him to the ground, pin his shoulders with your knees and plead with him in your foaming, trainspotting frenzy to tell you just why he chose the guitar tunings he chose. While you're at it, ask him if he wears boxers or briefs, what brand of crisps he ate during the recording of The Queen is Dead, and whether he and Morrissey have ever snogged. Now, wipe the snot off your nose and zip up your anorak, there's a good boy.

>Jhonny marr sometimes used a capo on the 2nd frett of his guitar to acommodate morrisseys voice. This is the key of f sharp. Most of the time he would just play in a normal tuning,But other times he would use an open tuning like on How soon is now.An open tunning is were you tune the strings of the guitar to a chord such as E.So when you strum the strings open without pressing on the fretts,You get the e chord. You may find if you play guitar that most smiths records can be jammed along too using common chords.

Listen to: The Last of the Famous!

Dear Person:

Are you deaf? Can't you hear the range, from high, to high shrills, to histrionics, to yelps, to yodels, to mid-range, to something slightly above middle, but by no means deep. For a great example of his range, please listen again, to The Last of the Famous International Playboys.

I am no expert but Moz is no Bass, nor is he a Chipmunk.

Morrissey does not IMHO (no offense) have the range of Andy Bell or Bono. But his range is as good as George Michael, who whatever you think of him, has a great range...good enough to do whatever he pleases.

There are many singers with less range that I love:

1) David Gahan

2) Robert Smith

3) Neil Tennant

4) Bernard Sumner

5) M. Stipe

You want a 2 Page Essay? NO!!

Seems like a reasonable query to me. If we were to ban everything that might be described as a bit trainspotterish things might get a bit quiet around here. Your joke was funny though.
