Morrissey’s 2011 North American Tour Selling Out and Setting Records

Following a sold out tour of Europe and the UK, Morrissey recently announced a North American tour. The show at Puebla, Mexico’s Auditorio del Complejo Cultural Universitario has become the fastest selling pop concert in the city’s history and his two nights at Mexico City’s Plaza Condesa are sold out. Many of the US dates have also already sold out including his date at the legendary Shrine Auditorium which sold out in twenty minutes, his fastest selling Los Angeles concert in twelve years. The performance at Pomona’s Fox Theater also sold out in twenty minutes. The tour begins November 10 in Chicago and concludes December 13 in Guadalajara, Mexico. He will be performing songs from throughout his unparalleled catalog including new unreleased tracks. Morrissey will also do two major US television appearances while in November.

Morrissey is often recognized as the most important British musician of his generation. The New York Times recently stated, ”Morrissey isn’t just any singer: he has become one of the defining rock stars of the past few decades by virtue of his grand voice, his grander songs, and his charming habit of playing with melodrama”. His influence is felt worldwide through the countless artists that cite him as their primary inspiration.

Despite all the hoopla between Morrissey and Morrissey-solo, I hope things have calmed down and David was at least sent this press release directly. Unlikely, but wishing for a Japan date.

Well, I hope that these sellouts convince Morrissey to head east of the Mississippi and play some shows in and around NYC. That said, I do appreciate him giving me a reason to take a littler vacation weekend in Vegas.

Seriously... why only tour half the country?

Crystal... you have no idea how much this Yankees loss hurts. Couple that with the Jets' unraveling and my sports interest is just so tattered now. That said, "How I love, all of the very simple things in life..." such as a Morrissey concert in Vegas. Surely, that can make my day anytime and I'll let you buy me a beer at the show for the misery I endure; I'll be holding a sign that says CrystalGeezer on it.

      Cheers.

I'm sure that Moz's new management did not want to commit to the expense of a full tour right off the bat. Play a few gigs, where the fanbase is very supportive, such as the LA/Mexico/Texas area, throw in a Chicago and Vegas date just to test the waters a little bit more, and then continue with the bookings based on the returns from those shows. That's my guess.
I believe that Morrissey's tours have been pretty poorly-managed in the US. I mean, I know that Morrissey is bigger than Jagger, Lennon, and Elvis combined in the eyes of many, but to book him at Madison Square Garden, a room with 18,000 seats, on the last tour? Please. It doesn't take a genius to know that Morrissey would be hard-pressed to pull that one off. There were other questionable venues as well, with multi-night runs in some cities that did not sell all that strongly; and then with the obligatory Morissey cancellation or two, I can see why a). he has had a hard time getting representation and b). there might be a "wait and see" approach to this tour before setting out full-bore. I do feel, however, that the dates that have already been booked will go well and he will decide to tour the US more extensively in the new year.

Undoubtedly this is because Morrissey's recent album was so brilliant and also because of the excitement created by his new songs and MorrisseysWorld with the whole white/red rose thing. Is it him or isn't it? Many of us know it's him and when he gives more clues in the US, the tour is goping to explode into life and the ending to the tour will be magical

We've been instructed to watch very closely.

      More clues soon.

The fact it's had over a hundred thousand visits, mentions in the press and now 3500 followers on twitter means the blog is a real force - if it wasn't moz or at least moz approved it would have been closed down. It hasn't. This means it is MOZ APPROVED. Yes, 120 000 visits in a couple of months to a Moz-approved website that has stated you should wear a white or red rose at his US concerts IS news - at the first gig Morrissey will make it clear those are his wishes and everyone will wear a rose, white or red... I wish I was going. I reallt do.

An intelligent self-parody by Morrissey over at morrisseysworld makes you all look as thick as you are. Congratulations. That's how the intelligent people do it.

I like the fact they conveniently left out the bit that unknown totals of pre-sale tickets were offered days before the regular offerings were available. That may have had something to do with the tickets selling out so quickly. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad there is still great interest but this report is a little less than being completely honest if they only had to sell half the tickets they had left after the pre-sales.

I have one extra ticket (General) for each day at El Plaza Condesa Mexico City. Does anybody have any extra ticket for Puebla? We can swap!. e-mail me: [email protected]
(And yes, the "Pre-Sale" in Mexico City was a joke, controlled by the ticketmaster.com.mx/banamex/resale thieves mafia).

He is so big in the U.S.A. It is his main market. Isn't it. His fan base there is the most whatever. 15,000 went to the concert in Lokeren in Belgium in August. Lokeren is hardly a city like New York or let's say London. His Royal Highness however only sang for an hour and then he ran off, but chose to sing for one and a half hour to a 3,000 people at the Palladium in London. He is bigger than Jagger, Lennon and Elvis combined? I keep the comments that people said at the end of the Lokeren concert to myself due to the shortness of his set. Sometimes it is not enough to just talk and appear in the media, you also have to deliver. But that those in London got the longer concert is of course more important because there were the more important British media and his non paying friends and his sick vocal fans who think they are more important than others, like the Americans. As to the question if an artist having nationalistic views matters, of course it does not to those who are no affected, but those who are and are treated by his stupid nationilistic British and American fans it very much does.

Oh and by the way, Uncleskinney, stop pretending that you are a nice guy, anybody knows that you are pure, mentally ill arsehole and a liar.
